Alaska
Yeah, and they can endure some pretty hot dry places in the lower 48 too. I once found one growing on the edge of a bluff. It was the regular red and yellow variety.
I wasn't much into flowers until recent years. I was not aware that columbines would survive in the lower-48. By the way, another beautiful wild flowers (plants, really) that are found all over Alaska are, "lupin." It produces a beautiful and delicate bunch of flowers. This plant is found in the coldest areas in Alaska, but are difficult to photograph unless one can do some focus-stacking, something that i am not patient with :)

Yeah, lupine is another one I think you can try to cultivate, but it really seems to prefer higher elevations, much like aspen trees. Here where I live, it not only gets pretty cold, but also pretty hot. Sometimes it can get really dry, but usually it’s just humid! Add to that our heavy soils, and we can grown many things, just not many of them really well!

Another day, another ruin. This is straight out of the stock camera app on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, with no edits. Sometimes I do wonder why I have the heavy thing hanging around my neck (the full-frame Sony, that is...)

Yeah, depending on the application (and for internet posting of limited DPI), going straight to the phone may not be so bad. I use the long end so much that I think I still have some time before those tiny sensors with no lens barrel can catch up to me. Landscapes though, they seem to be more than able at times. My PC wallpaper at work is a phone shot from the LG G4!

Yeah! Don't get me wrong, I know why I have it there; primarily for this little thing called detail, of the dynamic range, colour & definition that is lacking from a tiny sensor still. But occasionally, I get an image like this that looks good straight out of the box on my 27" monitor!
