Tools of the trade in an ophthalmology office.... Yesterday while sitting in the exam room waiting for the doc to come in I couldn't resist pulling out the iPhone and taking a couple of shots. Usually the exam room is kept dark because the patient has just had their eyes dilated, but that wasn't the case for me, as I was there to see about what was causing one eye to be red, irritated and painful. (Turned out to be a couple of eyelashes that were growing the wrong way and rubbing against the eye, causing some abrasions.) Anyway this setup fascinated me:

Tanagra (not really)
Iphone 12 Pro Max (and some blown out highlights).
I really can't sneak around with this tank-of-a-lens. But anyway...

That’s quite a beast of a lens! I shoot probably 90% at the long end (as most of my contributions suggest), which makes it hard for me to move past M43. The PL100-400 is almost always on my G9, and that combo is just this side of something I am willing to carry regularly. Even bumping up to APS-C really starts to pack on the pounds at the long end. If I look at FF, my back (and wallet) starts aching. I am curious how it would handle and how it would change my results though.

I totally understand. This 600mm weighs 6,6 lb (3 kg) and with the camera and battery grip the total is around 8,8 lb.
Manageable with a monopod.
I've tried handholding and, well even if it "works" so to speak, it's sub optimal.
Actually I was aiming for the 400 f/2.8 (RF-version) but this EF 600 was on a deal/campaign at a local shop (and in stock) with a $2500 rebate incl. VAT and shipping, so I just couldn't resist.
In addition, with the ~$1300 cash back on this lens it was a no brainer. I think I'll get about the same price I gave if I'm selling this used today. But that's not going to happen :D

Love the lens, rendering, DOF (and actually the weight too) with this particular lens. But it requires some planning in advance. Next up is the RF 50mm f/1.2 I think.

As some of you know I predominantly use my phone for all the pictures, I was scrolling through Instagram and randomly came across this account. Some of the shots there are unbelievable if taken on phones. Just leaving it here in case anyone was interested.

People who can use their phones for photography like that have magicians living inside their phones.
