I upload images i'm kind of pleased with. I do it because I like to see the image is appreciated (number of likes)
No, i'm not "counting" likes and thinking that if i don't get this or that many likes, I'm out of here :D
I have Instagram as well, and the same over there.
It's fun, and I gladly appreciate others images to (of course)
Not only the technicality of an image, sometimes it's something cute, like cats or dogs, that I'm very fond of (not able to have one myself due to allergy) But have had animals before and miss that, a lot. So those images may not be the most technically perfect, but gives me some comfort.

not too many like that school bus photo i posted a few days ago, which has a vivid story behind the scene.
the herons, gators and cats gets the likes more often.
Look on the bright side - in the future you will only have herons and gators to grab up all the likes. :)

P.S. I did like that bus picture you posted the other day. Although just posting a picture and letting it speak for itself is perfectly fine, I also like to see the story behind a picture if there is one. ?

Tanagra (not really)
That’s why I stopped liking every photo. I just like the ones I like now, but it’s all meaningless. Who actually looks to see how many likes one of their images gets?

I never pay attention to likes here. And only rarely on IG where they sort of count (in terms of how many people are seeing my images).

I share because I want to, not for likes.
I use them for the annual "Best of" yearly thread. We could debate for weeks over selecting the best results for 365 days of submissions, but what the crowd has chosen has yet to disappoint, and people get all year to cast their votes. To me, it's fun to just see it turn out organically, without any influence.

To be honest, I look at them. Not for ego or whatnot, but to see what you all chose as my "best" results each month. I know it's not technical and can be quite subjective, but sometimes the result surprises me. It's a form of passive feedback that I'll use to keep improving in this hobby at my own leisurely pace. Besides, you all deserve my "least worst" photos each and every day!

FWIW I appreciate the people who take the time to attach a like to images. Personally I tend to be a bit generous with the likes but quite stingy with the hearts. When assigning them I try to concentrate on the image and ignore who the photographer was.

I always appreciate a short explanation as the photographers here come from many locals. Places or things that are intimately familiar to the photographer may be totally strange to me.

Horizon lines do sometimes drive me crazy as they are so easy to fix.

I do find it interesting that images that I really like sometimes fail to generate the same response as images I am more ambivalent towards. Personal taste or maybe even just the time of day when they were posted.
