I call it "The Endless Hall". Family trip to Charlotte, NC for a weekend at Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park. The place is huge.

For some reason, the first thing that popped into my head was the hallway from the Overlook Hotel in the movie version of The Shining. Yikes :D.

They do actually groom their tails. In the southwest they even take dirt baths.
Thank you! In all the time though the years I've seen and been more-or-less observing our squirrel population here this was the first time I'd seen one do that with his (or her) tail. Earlier the squirrel had been foraging for food in the grass, and I'd captured a couple of shots of that and then he or she stood there for a short time as I quietly stood watching, and suddenly grabbed that tail and went to work. I was fascinated!

It says a lot about your beautiful energy while you were observing. All the wild animals have to be feeling pretty safe before they will groom out and about. I am happy for you!!

While on a walk around the lake the other day I had a close encounter of the feline kind.....this chap was out there by himself strolling around and came right up to me and we met eye-to-eye (rather, eye-to-camera lens "eye").

Ouch!

The kitty with whom I had an encounter was all in one piece, no injuries noted, and apparently his or her people have permitted the wandering around the neighborhood. There was a collar and tags around his/her neck so that if something bad happened anyone trying to help would have information about where the kitty lives and so on. Most people here tend to keep their cats as indoor cats only, so I was surprised to see this little chap strolling along the walking path.

My indoor cat is microchipped. Every time I put a collar on him, he would come home without it. Fat Orange Cat is a ferrel fixed male who was here when I moved in. Ferrel does not mean they are wild, they just live a group in our area. Most are friendly and prefer to be outside.

Followup from yesterday, another slide scan. This was across the street from the parking lot welcome station to Loch Ness. What really surprised me was years later opening the Sunday paper and there was that similar composed picture on the front page of the Travel section.

Tomorrow may post photo from lake level - but have to clean out the tourist.
