I just discovered said house finches are trying to build a nest in my front door wreath. I've been battling the next for the past 24 hours or so but only now see they are the finches. It makes sense based on the location of where I was finding the birds in the tree. They are pretty insistent, having rebuilt it at least three times since yesterday! (There hasn't been a full nest yet, just the base of it). I've confused them finally by adding some little bits of aluminum foil; allegedly birds don't like shiny things. Hoping that will keep them away but not sure it is going to be enough defense. I have plenty of trees elsewhere on my property they are welcome to setup house. Just not on my front door!House Finches are such excellent, cheerful singers! A lot of “oomph” in such a small package.
Lovely walk
They are persistent little creatures! We've had them try to build nests in various locations near front and back doors and other inconvenient areas. One year, we simply gave in and let them have an area on the front porch and they seemed to have a successful nest. It was fun to watch. Thankfully though, it hasn't happened since.I just discovered said house finches are trying to build a nest in my front door wreath. Oh, after our last robin experience, I can't blame you. They can get pretty protective of the nest, and while you're not really in much danger, they will nag you to death. Those robins were actually giving us a mean mug just watching them through our living room window. We were here first, bud.I just discovered said house finches are trying to build a nest in my front door wreath.
