Here's a photo i took in my livingroom with two IKEA lamps and a white T-shirt as an softbox. My Jimmie Hendrix LP acted as an nice surface (hope it didn't get scratched in the process). Here's the result anyway :)

Very nice. Great improvised setup that has produced a brilliant result. Nicely done mate.

material selection gives great textural and colour contrasts, lighting is simple and looks great while giving a nice natural, uneven vignetting. glass of booze (or tea) emits a nice warm colour.

nicely done!!

more curls ....

First time out shooting with my 70-300mm Nikon zoom today. Getting the wildlife in shot is really hard. Much respect for all you guys that have posted super wildlife shots here before.

In an ideal world of course the twigs wouldn't be in front of the squirrel. But he was very skittish. As soon as I tried to move he was gone.
Comments always appreciated.

nicely rendered & spotted, apart from the twigs of course as you mention.

also, practice makes best, Cheese & Apple, watch out

how about trying a crop to bring the squirrel a bit closer?

Already quite a crop going on there. To lose the branch on the left, means the image quality just deteriorates to much for me.

I think Cheese & Apple is quite safe. I spent ages trying to get a good bird shot. I'll post my best tomorrow, but it's not great. The only birds I saw mostly was pigeons!

maybe some of the wildlife photographers & enthusiasts of the forum could start a thread with destinations, tips, tricks, literature & links

Took a good few photos yesterday but the sunset on it's own just wasn't doing it for me. I quite like this one, though.

Thank you very much :) It's kind of fun to use what you got at home. But of course, when I use my uncles Studio with flashes and what not, it becomes even more fun! :)

A frantic capture from a few nights ago, on the return to our cabin, after capturing the sunset elsewhere. Had to race to get across the road, get the tripod set, get framed, get focus and hope someone would drive by in the right direction before the moon was completely behind the hills... As luck had it, I caught three cars going past, as they had recently departed the ferry, heading back to the city.

Lady Bay Setting Moon by playswithlight, on Flickr

very interesting long exposured leading lines, moon creeping up is spectacular. Always being prepared is key to being a photographer

looks also great for an ios lock screen theme

Carrickalinga Beach, South Australia. I loved the footsteps that had broken the crusty layer of sand here and the contrast of them to the sand itself. This was monochrome from the moment I saw it.

Thanks needfx, the moon was setting and quick, hence the urgency on this one. We rounded the bend and there was literally a couple of minutes till the moon was gone behind the hill. We were lucky to just make it into a parking bay there, the next one is about a kilometre down the road. It was a thirty second exposure and it doesn't look like the three vehicles have travelled far, but they have. This is one I am going to check the photographers ephemeris for the opportunity to get again, but hopefully with the moon reflecting across the water in between the hills. It might actually turn out too cliched though... Maybe I should leave it at this...

I imagine that a shiny ball of omni light over the sea might be distracting for starters and maybe take up more importance in your frame, while in the one you posted, lines coming through are first, creeping moon second, starry sky third.

Frankly though, trying it is the only way to know. If anything, you will have had a nice time planning & setting it up.

the beach you posted could easily be a photo from the mars rover

Or a raven. At first I thought of a crow, but the profile more fits a raven. A crow usually has a sleeker body and longer tail. It has a pecking beak, not a curved, flesh tearing bird of prey beak.

Playing around with my new (2) Einsteins a little. I need a third to put directly on the seamless so I get actual white. Or I suppose I could use the one behind me on the backdrop and use a large reflector to fill in on my right side. :D
