Male snowy owls are much whiter than female snowies. This is likely a juvenile male snowy as he still has a bit of colour in the feathers that will disappear as he matures.

Males are much harder to find as they get chased-off by the larger, more aggressive and territorial females so I was thrilled to find and photograph this guy.

Father Daughter Dance

Was at one my best friends' wedding. I totally teared up at the father/daughter dance but was able to capture this moment

What a lovely, charming photograph.

Beautiful, Doylem, as always. And I love the 'blue light', seascape, and urban setting.

Terrific picture; beautifully taken. You really should do a published series - or exhibition - with your wonderful shots of snowy owls.

Wonderfully lively shot.

Thanks. I have enough eagle shots I could probably post one each day for the next few years. :)

If they are as good as that one.... go on then! I love seeing nature close up and in motion fantastic guys

Thank you Scepticalscribe. I may take on your suggestion at some point in the future when I have time to spare. Right now, between work and getting out as much as possible to take pictures, life is busy and honestly...I'd rather be out looking for and following wildlife.

Thank you for your kind thoughts JamesMike. I've really been enjoying the pursuit of snowy owls this year.

Fortunately, they'll soon be heading back north to the arctic. I say "fortunately" because their stay around here is so brief that it makes their appearance that much more special for me.

Not my photo, but did any of you see this news article today. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-31711446

Weasel catching a ride with a woodpecker. I'd have been happy with just the woodpecker!

we have big screens showing the news headlines in the office. I saw this today and actually walked out of my meeting to go watch the news article.

I too would have been happy with the woodpecker!

With no new stuff I've been checking through a load of old stuff. Binned a load of stuff, updated some ratings etc.
Here's one I don't think I posted from last year.

Where exactly is this? I love walking around those old churches, abbeys and cathedrals - irrespective of whether they are still extant and in use, or whether they were destroyed during the Reformation.

Your picture reminds me a little of Tintern Abbey; I spent a terrific day there, with some wonderful friends fem Bristol, a number of years ago.

Lovely shot, and amazing colours.

My kind of pub: the Ship Inn at Porthleven...

My kind of pub, too, if I am honest. The kind with cosy nooks and a dark history, and extraordinarily atmospheric. Great places for a quite drink in winter, and sipping outside in summer. Great picture.
