Never mind the sparrow, I love old ruins, I like the lines very much, love the way you have captured the light which falls, and like, too, the fact that it is shot in black & white.

Thank you for the kind words! It's not a ruin though, it's very much a working church. I think the oof treatment makes it look run down. It's built of Northamptonshire ironstone.

A traumatic day... I was robbed, mugged in broad daylight. There was a bunch of them; I didn't see it coming. I'd just taken the first bite of a Cornish pasty (not even filling... just crust). Before I had the chance to take another bite, the pasty was gone. No time for a photo; this shot is all I have...

Thank you for the Cornish pictures, Doylem. I grew up in Cornwall, and Porthleven and Mevagissey have never looked so good.

Those seagulls are a pirate bunch! :)

I am utterly amazed that you found a time when there were no tourists clambering for selfies in front of this! When I went, it wasn't exactly heaving but there were plenty of people at this spot. You're very lucky indeed!

Alex

I went with a tour guide at 6AM and had the place to myself. I was there in May when it's way too hot for me at mid-day (it was barely tolerable at 6AM!)

Here's another that illustrates how unusual this place is...

The times I've been to a site that would be great if no people were there. Really enjoying this series. Keep them coming.

Here's one cropped in.

Haven't posted it the POTD thread for a while so here's a shot I took today of my latest watch purchase.

Fantastic - great shot (and marvellous reflexes to have been able to have captured that).

It won't but it has it's own heartbeat in its mechanical movement, which is something the Apple watch will never have ;)

Yes, I, too, love that quiet, and reliable ticking sound that comes from the mainspring of a lovely and well constructed watch.

Nice photo and nice watch! I can understand people wanting to buy a new camera that offers some improved function, but if you've got a very nice watch and you really like it and enjoy wearing it, what's the appeal of buying more? Hope you don't mind my asking, it's not meant as a dig, I'm just curious. Just so you know where I'm coming from, I have a nice Timex with a plastic strap that cost less than £30! If I had a very nice mechanical one I'm sure I'd enjoy wearing it but I wouldn't feel the need for another one.

It becomes a bit of an obsession with watch collecting. Us watch geeks like to have different movements, case styles, colours, manufacture years, different watch manufacturers etc. It's basically man jewellery really ;)

Happy to oblige. I'm really enjoying my travels around Cornwall. Spring comes so early this far south, and the light is terrific. I had a wander around the Helford River today, and found this guy delivering gas cannisters to the pub. This is the kind of pic that makes stock sales for me: something that says 'rural economy'...

Looks much warmer there, than it is here.

Mate, from a watch addict of the first order. Count yourself lucky you are not a watch guy. It is horrible sometimes. It is a terminal GAS situation. I think MacRy will agree and like he has already stated, it is about the small details, the different movements, a display back here, a rare dial design, a particular clasp or crown mechanism, luminosity, loose relationship to space/deep sea/adventure. It never ends. Still I am getting over my watch addiction now. Well, no actually, I have just replaced it with a legacy lens addiction. DAMN YOU GAS!!!

Nice, very nice! So crisp and clear. Cracking detail! You must have almost got whiplash panning to get that!

Loverly shot.

Thanks all! It was too difficult to capture, it's cropped in pretty tight.

Here's my contribution for the day.
