Very nice... Makes me shiver...

Thankfully, the weather on England's south coast is balmy...

The harbour at Charlestown...

Another delight... thank you again Doylem.

The school I attended used to take groups of boys to this harbour for swimming competitions. We were a little reluctant due to the quality of the water and the risk of being taken by a shark. Admittedly a rather small risk.

We did risk being harpooned by the Japanese whaling fleet as it mistakenly headed for Cardiff. Some of the lads were rather well-fed on pasties and starry-gazy pies and would have passed for Minkies at a distance...

My attempt at a bird shot - pales in comparison with the others this month but comments always appreciated. The 'hemmed-in' cropping is deliberate.

Looks like a great egret in breeding plumage. It's a shame that it didn't poke its head out on this side of the leaves, but nice job getting the eye in focus (behind the leaves, no less). I have found that getting the exposure right on white birds like this can be a challenge, especially when on the move, as it is very easy to lose detail in both the highlights and the shadows.

Skijoring in North Pole, Alaska:

Great angle, and I like the bold colors of the visor, bib, and harnesses against the snow.

These birds reminded me of sheet music when I saw them perched on the utility lines...

Thanks MCH-1138, it was pretty shy about making itself seen. Despite the many criticisms of Canon's limited number of focal points, I've always found it pretty reliable. A lovely bird nonetheless.

Amazing bird pix the last few days …. figured I'd try my hand at it …

Great idea! Don't have to worry about plumage changing and these guys are much easier to shoot as they don't move too much.:D Unfourtunately I just came back from the grocery store, next time I'll take the camera and do some bird stalking. On second thought, there's bison and salmon and shrimp and duck to sneak up on too.
