Playing with the free NIK plugins - nice bit of software but certainly wouldn't have paid the original price. A rework of one I posted the other week. Comments always appreciated.

I paid the original, original price several years ago ... before $150 deal, so Im pretty p*ssed by he free giveaway.

Very nice reworking, as noted before I really liked the original shot, but this adds some additional punch.

I did not notice the recumbent face in the first line of hills before, looks like a slightly fat giant lay down ...

So, just had my day ruined by a complete ******.

Wife and two daughters out for an Easter Egg Hunt at a local National Trust location. The girls were running ahead as usual and I was trying to get action shots of them with a 90mm manual lens. Lovely sharp images on my Sony. They got to fish for tadpoles and fresh water snails.

Anyway, they went into the play park and were alone. So I took some shots of them on the climbing frame. Queue ******...

This guy comes up to me and asks if I am the official photographer. Of course I say no and so he then asks why I am taking pictures of the girls. I said they are my daughters and I am allowed to take pictures of them where I want.

He then starts accusing me of being dodgy and I should be ashamed of myself! Bear in mind the girls are in a park on their own.

I asked him to accompany me to the office where they would confirm I can take pictures wherever I like - I checked - but he decided to walk away pointing at me saying loudly I was dodgy infront of other people. I felt completely mortified! and it has ruined an otherwise fabulous Easter weekend!

It has really upset me.

Surely if I was in deed dodgy, I would be using a sneaky camera phone to take shots, not a few grands worth of high end full frame camera full out in the open without any shame!?!?!

What a complete and utter t*sser... to ruin my bloody weekend!

Sorry guys, had to get it off my chest. Need to go break something cheap now to vent...

Sorry you had your day ruined. I'm always very careful of where I shoot for this very reason. Especially considering my family are never with me when I'm out shooting.

This is probably the sort of person who will cause trouble anywhere and walk away with a self satisfied smile.

Take photos of your kids anywhere you like; they can easily confirm who you are.

The trouble with the little Sony cameras is that most of the public still see them as cheap point and shoots, and only associate a DSLR with a large lens as expensive and professional.

Cheers :)

Cheers Ian, I hadn't seen that myself - obvious now that you point it out. Agree that the NIK-processed version adds a bit of something but I always wonder if I go too far with these things.

Fine, if he had called you out and then accepted your explanation but a bit of over-reaction on his part. Apt description...

That sucks buddy but don't let it bother you. The guy was obviously a total douche nozzle and he is the one with the problem.

I hate that society seems to have become massively overprotective of children and any man anywhere near someone else's child is automatically some kind of sex pest or pervert. You only have to talk to a child in public and the parents look at you as if you've made some improper suggestion to them. Doesn't seem to be such an issue for women I've noticed. The media has a lot to answer for with their scaremongering.

So true. I recall a dad getting evicted from my daughters swimming class for listening to an MP3 player years ago.
We were also never allowed to video the school plays when she was little because of the school policy. Of course I have the memories, but it would be nice to see some of those pictures and videos again now.

I know what it's like to be accused of photographing something inappropriate, and how angry it makes me feel. I had another episode only last week. I've made a little promise to myself that I won't take any more **** from anyone, in this regard. The next 'episode' could be quite explosive!

and this is why it upsets me so much. I am a father of two young girls. I am always vigilant but confronting a guy who is standing there, smartly dresse

I think the bit that has upset me most is I was so embarrassed to be accused in front of other people and despite being dressed smartly He decided to target me and not anyone else - there were loads of people around with Nikons, Canons etc. Not like I was the only one with an actual camera.

I get the protective bit, I protect my girls but I dont go round accusing folks without good reason you know? and I am angry at myself for not having better retorts... ho hum... just have to get over it..
