Is that wooden platforms? that must bounce like crazy when there are lots of folks on it no?
Absolutely Ken. The platforms on the elevated rail loop (the "L" in local parlance) tend to be wooden. The rail structure is steel with what buildings there are having corrugated iron sheet roofs (snow on the ones in this picture despite the bluish-tint to it from post). Both keep the weight down I suppose. The structures are remarkably vibration resistant, perhaps because wood itself is pretty good at damping (same effect is found in older surveying tripods having wooden legs). IMHO the "L" is fantastically photogenic (even if I fail to capture it) and contributes significantly towards the great downtown area character.
Lovely use of shallow DoF to give the spiritual feel. The only improvement IMHO would be to warm the background whites a bit to add to the richness of the feel. Nice.Obviously feeling spiritual today.
