So how far is too much in post editing composite photographs? In San Diego, it isn't odd to have cloudless skies, and I can't tell seagulls to fly in a certain area. Now that mentioned it, the sun was wasn't photoshopped in or manipulated... just the sky and birds.

Shot this today of the Newport bridge. Sony A7RIII, Zeiss Batis 85mm @f/11, ISO 100, 15 stop ND filter with an exposure time of 91 sec. Focus was set manually on the big rock in the foreground without the filter attached. Obviously on a sturdy tripod with a remote release.

The sharpness is kind of wonky throughout the frame with the nearest tower blurred though object nearer and farther away are sharp. It's not a lens issue or a technique issue--I have to blame the ND filter. It's a Singh-Ray filter which isn't cheap, but sharpness is really wonky for no obvious reason. Things that should be in the plane of sharpness aren't. Not field curvature as the lens doesn't have this and my copy of the lens doesn't either. A 10 stop ND filter didn't show this behavior. Hard to imagine that the bridge itself was moving during the exposure as the pattern of spotty sharpness doesn't relate to structural elements.

Nice water, pity the clouds didn't cooperate. Would be a great spot to get back to for a colour version at sunset/twilight as the natural/artificial light is playing together. How's the colour cast for it? They are reputed to be quite red.

Nice photo.

From the last Nor'easter...Two feet of snow brought down two tall shrubs in my backyard.

_MG_7821%202-XL.jpg

Man, I hate when that happens, the two feet of snow and the bringing down of trees and shrubbery. We had five Leland cypress trees come down during Snowmageddon in our backyard and the two holly trees in our front yard have never really recovered. We're probably should take them out. I worry about that shrub there in your picture, hopefully it bounces back.

With all these Nor’Easter’s we’ve been having, a lot of trees and shrubs have been lost. The 2nd to last Nor’easter brought down a lot of trees. I live in a townhouse development and there are branches or trees down in areas. As far this shrub goes, I really want it gone. It is overgrown and needs a good trim. The problem is it borders the neighbors’ side of the deck to give them privacy from us. So when I look out my kitchen window, I see these overgrown shrubs and it’s an eyesore to me. Especially when my husband and I planted all new flowers and plants off our deck last fall. The townhouse association is responsible for the grounds. I don’t know why they haven’t trimmed it. I may ask to have it trimmed sometime this spring/summer. They do keep the grounds very nice otherwise. The shrub has come up halfway now that the snow is off.

I’m sorry that you lost some trees. It sucks when that happens. We planted a hydrangea last fall and lost it during this storm. I’m hoping the rest of the stuff we planted survived. It’s been an awful winter. First extreme cold, then the snow. I’m glad Spring has come. Now it’s waiting for the blossoms.

Here's the demolition of our local power station chimney - building started in 1963 and it was taken out of commission a couple of years ago.
My grandfather was actually one of the draughtsmen on the build, and I remember him taking me round the site as a young child.
This is the colour version of a pentaptych I thought would give a good record of the explosion. It was a murky day and the light was truly horrible; I'm not sure which came out best so I'll share the black and white version tomorrow.

Nice...

Do you have a shot of the chimney before explosion, so you could pre-pend it and append a shot without it in?

Here's another word that the MR swearbot never picks up.

LEICA!

I would respond but the swearbot would blue screen on me!

I'd love to see you explaining to Mrs Kenoh why you must get a Phase one or Hasselblad! Good luck with that one!

It is exactly like Game of thrones isnt it? and it was a lesson in why it is always good to have the telephoto lens with you at all times! first shot with a normal lens and the trees looked too thin and spaced out...

Sigma? - DP1 briefly
Nikon - Got a FM SLR sat on my shelf right now... and tried a D300 when it was the one...

Lol... yeah the Phase One and Hassy will be a long time away... and yeah... she wont wear it well... I will let you know the day I am going to ask though..

You really are the camera (owner) king!

Just think if you hadn't got into photography you could be driving round in a 911!

No, I am an idiot, I was convinced better camera better pictures... as we all know that isnt how it works...

In fact, I reckon all the chopping and changing has set me back...

No I have settled down into the knowledge I am rotten at this game, now I can enjoy what I have.... (having recently bought a new camera....oops)...

So listen, that B&W shot above, do you think it looks better in colour?
