Spooky tree lined road... This would be awesome in the dark with a torch!

DSCF8209.jpg by Ken OHagan, on

I prefer monochrome and always like these tree lined road shots and the mystery of them. That kinda looks like the Beech tree road near Crieff. It’s on my list for another Autumn pilgrimage to Perthshire in the future. I think your location has potential for a misty autumn morning. If it’s nearby and easily accessed, pencil it into your list!

Very nice. Wish we got that curtain effect here, we’re generally restricted to hazy mush on the far horizon where I live in Southern Scotland.

Ha ha! no @Mark0 accessible to both of us (me more so but not as far as Crieff)... it is in Paisley! So oh yes... @Alexander.Of.Oz and you have given me some ideas for repeat visits... what I will not do however is let my brother in law drive again as he almost got us stuck in the mud. Who pulls off a road into a huge muddy puddle on purpose!?!?!

Is that an old yellow Renault 5 hiding in the bokeh there?

You are too kind mate. I am woefully inadequate at this hobby but thank you for the boost.

You know I had thought of going back with a torch and doing what you suggested but you are right the flash idea sounds epic. Only challenge is that thay road isis frequented by hoodlums and boy racers so I would need to plan carefully with a spotter. Will have a think about it and maybe set something up.

Thx for the idea...
It's a flying house brick, an old mini turbo, slowly rusting away. Apparently it hasn't been started or moved in about 20 years!

Don't underestimate yourself Ken, you have a good eye and technical ability.

You'd definitely need a pair of spotters for that one, one at either side of you, and maybe another to do the shifting of the flashes.

Paisley is still a fair trek for me!

Nice! She does remember to use it in landscape orientation too? I have a dear friend who only uses her iPhone in portrait mode for all photo's and video, then complains that she has to walk back too far to fit everything/everyone in the frame!

She does thankfully use landscape orientation. She’s got a pretty good eye actually.

Here’s another from the ruins.

Apologies for the delay, it was a full week for me. As I said I would do, here are some of the photos I took when my wife and I visited this cathedral back in September 2016 :)

Beautiful. I went up to Fairbanks 18 years ago just to see the Aurora Borealis. Missed the sunspot cycle by 2 weeks, but it was still quite a beautiful sight. :)
Thanks to all of you for the nice comments. It has been cloudy quite often this winter, but finally had a couple of nights with clear skies.

Very nice, but remember just the one photo per day.

Superb.

In the interior of Alaska the Auroras take many forms or shapes. They usually start somewhat low in the horizon toward the North, and then as the night progresses the lights are all over the sky above one's head.

Every year I look forward to your AB pix!
Thank you. I have a one or two more to post.

OH MY WORD! No matter what we do, no matter how far we advance technologically. Mother Nature kicks our butts and she has been doing it for Eons.

Stunnng.

Love the shots of the ceiling. Gorgeous detailing.

Yes, Kenoh. Agree with you about Mother nature. In reality a photograph cannot compare to the light show of the Auroras. For example, for a few minutes last night there was a very large display on the sky, all around me the Auroras were moving (dancing) quite fas in a circular pattern. The display is just majestic, and I have no words to explain it.

Fingers crossed I haven't shared this one before... If I have, let me know and I'll do the ol' switcharoo.

An old windmill, missing its blades. This one's a bit of a mystery to me as to why someone would have kept sheep here as it's in a seasonally flooded wetland area! Must have been put in place before anyone realised.

Funny, I don't recall signing a release for photos of my abode nor my transport. AND to post with such a disrespectful title! You are banned from my property!
That's one heck of a daily commute to the Hill! About 16,800Km's each way! Now that's devotion! ;)

Oh, and I loved the Range Rover with the grasses growing through it, but was rather annoyed that I couldn't get a clear shot of it without trespassing... Putting a shipping container in front of it is so inconsiderate of you...

I mentioned before that a photo does not really show how impressive it is to look at the Auroras with your own eyes. Sometimes the Auroras look like beams of light and fluid, and that is something the camera's sensor can capture on a photo. But last night the lights you see in the photo were moving rapidly, like a water wave rolling over still water. The light show is truly impressive, something that a photo can't show. A video would show the movement, however.

Bordesley Station

It's bit of a weird station near Digbeth in Birmingham - its rarely open but it's said to be more cost effective to open the station a few times a week than go through a formal legal process of closing it.

Mate. You would be amazed what you find within easy reach of home with a little search.
