Exactly a year ago today. A miserable day in Bride Le Bains skiing. iPhone XR again(it’s waterproofing came in handy)

Within the heart of a tiny village in Ariege, where it appears that time has stood still. Ariège being one of the least populated and most unspoiled regions in south-west France.

I enjoy cycling and use an app called the Sufferfest during the winter months to help me keep fit. Just last night the video was showing climbing Ariege in France. The scenery was breathtaking. Nice to see a close up of some of the town.

Yeah, we did that (getting her neutered) so she wouldn't have any more kittens. We call her "Momma Kitty" for now.

Unfortunately she acted like she had already been outside for a while when we first saw her come into our backyard.

We are making progress, though - now she comes up and sniffs my fingers and she rubbed against my fingers briefly this morning. :)
The trust takes a long time. The feral cat we took in took forever to trust me. I used to go out in the garage and sit on a box and just talk to her every day. Very skitterish. She eventually would come closer to sniff and then a quick rub or touch with the tail but would be running for the hills if you reached out for her. She came around but it was a long process. Sounds like you are making progress, best of luck.

This thing is one of a pair (?) that has taken up residence in a preserve I'm a member of . They often hang out around the parking area and administration buildings , and are pretty docile . You can walk right up to within a few feet without alarming them , you're just ignored . Unlike the flock that terrorized the street where I used to live . They'd go right after you .

And what you are describing is pretty much the same thing I am seeing with the Momma Kitty.

She definitely likes being somewhat near people, as she has shown the following behavior somewhat recently:
  • When I open the back door and put treats in her bowl, she comes running over if she is hungry.
  • She will come over to the back steps when I am at the landing and start playfully clawing the wood like it is a scratching post.
  • When she is close by she sometimes rubs against the steps or step railing with her tail up in the air. Some of our cats do the same thing - they are happy to be near us and that is one way our cats show it.

There used to be a group of feral cats in a parking lot behind an office I had years ago. Cars would come and go all day, but when this older lady came in her old ford, they all came running for the food she brought. They knew the sound of her car!
