Tanagra (not really)
Reminds me a little of a longtime ongoing thread called "Post an Image Related to the One Above It" that we have on Nikon Cafe, where someone posts an image and then someone else posts something related in some way, It's really interesting how the thread and the images evolve from one item to the next!
Yeah, there’s a “Photo Association” thread in another forum I visit. It’s been going for many years now, with I believe over 1000 replies. It can be pretty fun.

How does it work? Person A posts a photo. Does Person B come say I'll shoot next? Then they shoot/post and person C announces??

Otherwise don't you end up with multiples derived from a single image? We set ours up as an instagram loop and I think there were only 10 of us total, so really small.

Wondering if it would be a fun project here for us. ?

The Photo Association threads can be fun. One person would start it, post a photo. Next person would post another photo based on something in the first. It can drag on a bit if everyone posts a photo of say, a cat... But eventually the subject would change. That’s been my experience.
I’ve thought about starting a thread like that a few times for here.

Right by I’m envisioning if say you start the thread, it’s possible that both AFB and I shoot at the same time. Is there a waiting/grace period? I think it would be fun to do here. ?

It’s possible to use a photo that’s already been taken. We wouldn’t have to have strict rules or posting limits.

No chance. Your a much more prolific shooter than me! I shot some flowers at the weekend and still haven’t unloaded the SD card.

On Nikon Cafe, it can be either freshly-shot photos or archival ones that are brought into the thread, and usually whoever has posted their related image first more-or-less provides the guidance for the direction in which the thread will continue, but yes, at times two people will post nearly at the same time but somehow it all works out. I haven't been participating in that thread lately so am probably not up on all the fine details of it.

An example would be: Member A posts a photo of a cat lounging on a sofa. Member B might choose to share an image of another cat doing something else or he/she might opt to go in the direction of something related to the sofa (i.e., furniture).... Member C comes along and picks up on the theme suggested by Member B and carries it out further....etc., etc. On Nikon Cafe there are no limitations on who can post in the thread or when they post, and no limitations on camera gear or whether the image is archival or brand-new fresh out of the camera. It's just a fun, casual thread that has been ongoing for several years now.

I think it would be fun to have a similar ongoing thread here!

Looks like it’s already been answered. Say someone posts a photo of a bike, you could post another bike photo, another thing with a wheel, a circle, the same color as the bike, etc. The more creative the better, as it keeps you out of the rut of the same thing being reposted.

Oh I understand the concept but wondering about the logistics.

On Nikon Cafe it's loosely structured, nothing formal, just a fun activity for whoever wants to jump in whenever they see an image and think, "oh, I've got something that would be perfect for this!" and add their own. No one is responsible for "maintaining" or supervising the thread, it's not like a competition or anything, and it's not bound by specific rules the way the POTD thread is. Now that I'm thinking about this, though, yes, I suppose at some point a long time ago an Admin or Mod set things up so that the thread would be permanently "pinned" so that it would be readily visible in the subforum in which it resides.

Yes. The thread would need to be pinned so it doesn’t disappear in the flow of all the other threads.
