Erm....?
Interesting. I'm not far from Wales so will look it up!No, not at all. In Wales, there is a designated Low Fly Area called the Mach Loop. Basically, you climb to the top of a mountain and the planes fly through the valleys and you can look down on them. They're really close too. It is one heck of an experience.

My best man used to live in Low Fell not far from here. Nice sun flare.A local icon...I'm quite a fan!

I have a new lens - 28mm f/2.8 Industar 69 pancake (Russian Tessar copy), so it seemed natural to compare with the other 2 Russian lenses...

What surprised me the most was the swirly stuff going on in the background. It's a bit like the Helios 44-2 with half the focal length.
Tiny little lens; looks good on my NEX.
Cheers

Do you find different copies of the same lens vary that much? Are you talking about a focusing issue or was there something else wrong with it?I had one of those on my Fuji XE1 but it was horrible. Yours looks to be a better example.
Only because I took it apart, hacked it to get it to focus to infinity, then regreased it.I had one of those on my Fuji XE1 but it was horrible. Yours looks to be a better example.
Very much hit and miss with Russian lenses, AFB, but if you get a good one it will be extremely good.Do you find different copies of the same lens vary that much? Are you talking about a focusing issue or was there something else wrong with it?
I've never had any of my lenses serviced given a number of them are older, I've often thought about it, but they all work flawlessly.Only because I took it apart, hacked it to get it to focus to infinity, then regreased it.

Oh, lenses from the 50s and 60s are much more simple inside and easier to work on; no focus or aperture motors to worry aboutI've never had any of my lenses serviced given a number of them are older, I've often thought about it, but they all work flawlessly.

Well, I thought I'd cocked it up because I forgot to shorten the stops inside, so I ordered another from Estonia (£24 incl. P&P).I also cracked mine open to get infinity focus but optically it just wasn't that great.
Yes, they do look good, don't theyI also cracked mine open to get infinity focus but optically it just wasn't that great.
It did look good on the XE1 though.
Team Valley, that takes me back.
I lived there from 94-96 so a while back. Maybe we met in the Big Market one night!
Another Bluebell shot, very similar to yesterdays.

I only remember the start of the evenings out in the big market. The ends were always a bit blurry!Yep started out at a software house on 5th Ave Business Park. 94-96 is was there... learning to drink proper... putting in the hours practicing. The Big Market. It is a sorry shadow of its former self now. Shame. Had some "interesting" nights out there and down the quayside too...
