Thanks mate. That makes me happy. I think while the pack (other course attendees) were chasing the bird, I took the approach of hanging back and watching its behaviour before taking off then trying to pe empt where it would be and get the shot otherwise i was just getting lovely empty tree images
We're the handlers giving you pointers? When I went to a photographic evening with owls they were very good.
Birds in flight is probably the hardest thing I've ever shot.

Nope. The handler was just hanging out with us talking about the bird and how they train them using food, how they live longer in the environment they are in rather than in the wild. Was interesting. Had no clue how many of our phrases are from falconry. Quite enlightening.

Yes, I haven't taken shots of birds in flight much before but man it is difficult isn't it? I took to lying on the ground to try and buy myself as much reaction time as possible because of the way she was doing these (I imagine trained crowd pleaser) swoops when taking off.

I think I will start participating...

I have got quite the backlog of photos to share from over a year ago so why not? I am still learning so input/feedback is always appreciated.

That's looks like an interesting place to explore. Very abstract. Like the colours and light. Just maybe watch your horizontals to keep them flat.

Same here, one of the most difficult and frustrating types of photography I've done. I won't be in a hurry to BIF again, or macro :|

Yes... so... as a Sony A7Rii user I can say that it is quick at AF, but not quick enough for BIF. I missed far too many shots because the camera had lost lock on the bird. On more than one occasion I considered putting the camera away and sitting in a huff but after persevering I was rewarded with some nice shots but i earned them!

Nice fire truck!

I really enjoyed my few days in Ystad.

It is a few years back now.

Only one grumpy Swede; everyone else treated the crazy Englishman with a lot of kindness and smiles. Good time.

Oh, like the picture. Another memory.

Macro's a good bit easier than BIF imo.
Just trying it free hand is a bit more tricky. Always best with a tripod if you can.

With nothing to scale this image I'm not sure if this is a mountain or 6 inches tall?

Don't recall lying on the ground, but I'm not that dedicated!

I might have trimmed some of the grass a bit. Nothing wrong with a bit of gardening. Especially in macro shots.

Hey Hugh, it looks like you may have brushed an adjustment into the sky to darken it. If you did, go gentle with that type of adjustment or feather a bit more...there appears to be a distinct line above the trees. If you didn't, then disregard and right this comment off to my imagination.

Actually Peter, I didn't. The sky was already dark and forbidding, but I've looked at it myself and thought it was strange. It's a composite of three bracketed shots and I think the anomaly appeared when I used Nik HDR Efex back at home.
I should have corrected it before uploading, sorry.

Cheers :)

From the side of the road on the west coast somewhere.

Wet rock from the hillside blasted when the road was constructed.

The scale was/is not important as I remember; in fact, that's a common thing with my stuff since giving up photographing for money. Hadn't realised that until just now.
