Cheers mate. Been a tough weekend.
Thanks. Just the distraction on here helps.Sorry to hear that. Real sorry. Hope you find your smile soon mate.
Great story. Great colors and scenery. However I don't like the square format. Is this because it was made for instagram? And it could be sharper, look at the rocks in the foreground. Is this also the result of instagram?
Anyhow, just my opinion. But since you wanted it...
Thats gorgeous. Maybe lift the shadows a tad on the mountains? to get some of that beautiful detail?
The size was meant for Instagram, the processing is all me. Thank you for the tips, I am still learning. Feedback is always welcome and necessary.

Thank you for the feedback, I had no idea lifting the shadows would actually give it a better sharp feel. Thanks again for the feedback. Should I post a new version? or leave it for next month, I'm not too sure what the rules are for double post?
Agree. It's the 'photo-of-the-day thread'. So you can post a new image every day. I don't think people would mind if you posted a new version on the same day. Just to keep the discussion going.

Comments always appreciated. Difficult to get a good angle on these falls - that's about a 60-foot drop. Lack of water doesn't help either!

Not so much a Speedos problem Ken- getting down the gorge is pretty challenging anywhere near this point. This is a beautiful spot in autumn and the surrounding woodland is filled with spring flowers at the moment. The smell of wild garlic is overpowering in some places though!Think you need to get your Speedos on and get in there...
Really liking the colour palette of Scotland right now. Shame the angle is so acute as that looks like a lovely gentle falls to capture.

Hey Hugh, it looks like you may have brushed an adjustment into the sky to darken it. If you did, go gentle with that type of adjustment or feather a bit more...there appears to be a distinct line above the trees. If you didn't, then disregard and right this comment off to my imagination.

Yes... so... as a Sony A7Rii user I can say that it is quick at AF, but not quick enough for BIF. I missed far too many shots because the camera had lost lock on the bird. On more than one occasion I considered putting the camera away and sitting in a huff but after persevering I was rewarded with some nice shots but i earned them!
Macro's a good bit easier than BIF imo.
Just trying it free hand is a bit more tricky. Always best with a tripod if you can.
I must have fired off around 300 shots and had about 6 that I thought were good enough. Truth be told, it was Red Kites and they swoop down so quick that the 60D and 70-200 f4L couldn't really cope. Maybe in better light I'd have been able to use a faster shutter and tone down the ISO a bit. Obviously a faster, longer zoom would've made a difference. Overall though, photographing birds in flight just didn't do anything for me. I didn't get much out of it intrinsically.
The way I feel about macro is the same about BIF - I just don't get much from it. I have had some good shots, but can't be bothered with all the faffing about haha!
Maybe I'm just too used to landscapes and others probably feel the same about it. I know a few folk into photography who give me some looks when I say I've waited for hours on a hill once just to grab a single shot. It's obviously not their cup of tea!
I am definitely of the wait on a hillside for a landscape persuasion.
Yes, thank you, I would love another reason to lust after he 70-200 f2.8!!!
BTW @Mark0 Colin Prior is as you would hope, a very nice guy.
I think BIF is OK but not my gig. I would be more satisfied with a nice panoramic landscape shot like you do.
Just a horned toad .... would have missed him if he didn't move ...
