just messing about with the minolta 35-105, a warm evening, through a dirty windshield, on a camera that should not be hosting this lens.

Got up to the hills on Tuesday for the Autumn colours and the Mindful Photography group was rained out. We waited under a shelter for ages, called it quits, went to a local café, then headed off to a nearby waterfall instead...

This was the best I could get from under the shelter.

Canon 550D, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, Multi-segment Metering, Aperture Priority
ISO 400, 21mm, f/16, 1/40

A dandelion from my garden. I try to encourage wildlife into my garden as much as i can so i leave part of it uncut and free to grow, i get butterflies, a wide variety of birds and all sorts of insects. Having left the dandelions uncut they have almost taken over so before i chop them down, i captured one for posterity. I do think the blue 'forget me not' flower to the left of the dandelion is off putting but i don't how to clone it out properly. I'm not good with ps.
Any comments appreciated.

The other way to forget the forget me not would be to move a little to the left so it was hidden behind the dandelion.
Also I sometimes gently fold down distracting background foliage while taking the shot; it should spring back into place soon enough.

Cheers :)

Beautiful. Really dreamy.

That is so so good! Gorgeous image

this is beautiful

In contrast to this sublime SF image...

Thank you all. Given a tight schedule and a tough hike back up to the road, we had one crack at this shot and got lucky with nice light for it.

Another from Wednesday of the Rhode Island state house. Made the decision that day to just walk around with an 18mm lens.

Handheld trying to achieve symmetry which can be a PITA with a wide angle lens. Kept it in color. It was an overcast day and the limited tonality in the sky wasn't pleasing for the overall composition (the differences that existed were quite distracting in where they fell) so blew it out a bit in post. Which created different problems of a mostly uniform bright sky which is distracting in its own right, though I prefer this version.

Possible I need to go back on another day to try it again. Not sure how I really want the sky to look in this composition--uniformly blue if keeping it in color, dark/black if converting it to B&W, surreal streaking using a long exposure with some clouds present, dramatic sky with some formed clouds present using a short exposure. Each option would dramatically change the overall feel of the pic. Also have to decide if this particular composition of this particular subject can be visually interesting regardless of the light or weather. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks but i didnt actually notice either the foliage nor the forget me not until i put it on the computer, i told you I wasn't very good at this photography lark! :) I'll keep trying and next time be sure to remove any unwanted distractions, cheers.

The gold standard again, Molly. Thats another great shot the drip is perfectly in focus and my eye is drawn straight to it. Very nicely done - again!

WTF people!!! I sit down with a nice cuppa on a lovely sunny Saturday morning to enjoy a bit of quiet time on my favourite forum and you bastards fill it with loads of pictures of eight legged nightmare fuel.

great greens. I keep staring at it, but can't find the main subject. Enlighten me. Where is your 8 legged friend hiding?

In a lake of fire.

What did I do???

You are absolved Ken.

So this’ll give you a laugh, you horrible people:

I went shooting today (guns not cameras) and the range I was on had targets that you move up and down the range with a hand operated pulley system. I was winching my targets back in and a spider descended from the ceiling and landed on my hand. Obviously I freaked out and let out a shriek like an eight year old girl and bolted for away from it. Clearly the best environment to act like a massive wuss. I’m sure someone thought I’d been shot.
