I love Japanese Maples! Great shot!
Thanks @Bigtree They are one of my favourites too, but we can't grow them here very easily, being down on the coast only just in from the beach. Well, apart from one variety that's surprisingly sun-hardy! My favourites are the ones with the deep crimson coloured leaves that are long and thin in nature.

Beautiful photo Alex. Our Japanese Maple just bloomed. I've been taking photos of it. Will post once processed.

Can't remember this bird's name, but he sure looks interesting.

I believe it is an African Crowned Cane.

Here's another photo of the Red Winged Blackbird.

Thanks everyone for the help. I will post another photo of this bird tomorrow, but I believe @Cheese&Apple is correct. It looks like a female Red Winged Blackbird. I googled different types of birds by description. Couldn't seem to find one that matched so because I get a lot of sparrows I put it out there. I get a lot of variety of other birds as well. Sometimes, I'll sit on my deck with camera in hand and wait for them.

Yes, female red winged blackbird is correct. Here is one I took last year:

They certainly look prettier than our black birds in the UK.

Beautiful. How many photographers were there with you? I suspect this is one of the most photographed spots in the world.

Tanagra (not really)
I was happy this guy came to visit our garden and hung around for long enough that I could grab my camera.

Mrs AFB not so much. She was concerned the Sparrow Hawk would eat this years batch of baby sparrows. He left empty beaked though.
Oh buddy, a few weeks ago a baby peregrine falcon killed a robin in our backyard. Our little kids got a lesson about nature that day! It was hard not to feel bad for the poor robin.
