They are very strange looking birds.

An egret of some kind, probably a Great Egret. A few kinds of egret in Florida but this is the largest afaik.

Another male Red-Winged Blackbird for @Keleko
This is a pose you don't see to often... Building a nest is exhausting!

If the picture was taken in Florida, then it's a great egret.
I was hoping this was taken in Scotland, because after making the decision to move back to the old world, I was hoping there would be some wading birds for me to take pictures of

I experienced a beautiful sunset over Killantringan Bay earlier in the week and this small patch of Bluebells at their peak made for an equally beautiful scene. It may be the best image I've produced yet. South West Scotland at it's finest.
Fuji X-T3 with Samyang 12mm f2 NCS lens using LEE Filters 0.9 Soft Graduated Filter and 0.6 Soft Graduated Filter.

Yes, looks like a Great Egret to me, too. My favorite is the Snowy Egret, which in breeding season has the most gorgeous, long wispy feathers that drape beautifully and float gently in the air.... I am also partial to GBH (Great Blue Herons). I love the wading water birds, the larger birds, and find them more intriguing than the usual "backyard birds." Of course, in Florida, it seems as though they ARE the "backyard birds" there! Years ago a friend and I drove down to Florida on a photo trip, where we were to meet other photographers there. As we got into Florida, first it was the palm trees which were interesting, and then we saw egrets now and then and one of us would squeal, "ooh, look over there! An egret!!" Well, by the end of the week as we were driving out of Florida, headed home, I realized suddenly how jaded we'd become when I glanced out the window and saw an egret. Oh, another egret. Ho, hum......
