U.K.
I built a natural pond in my garden over the last few weeks, I have been waiting patiently for it to spring into life and now it has! This morning there were two horny Damselflies, along with a variety of other treats, ready for me to capture. It is incredibly rewarding to build something with a purpose in mind and see that purpose come to fruition. The amount of nature and wildlife my pond has attracted is amazing, it has only been in the ground for less than three weeks and is already teeming with life.

Is that a Great Spotted Woodpecker?
I have had the pleasure of a frequent Woodpecker in my garden over the years, they are absolutely lovely birds. Nice capture.

That’s cool. Helping nature and photography! Love to see a wider picture to see how it looks.

They were obviously assembling this new thing for the first time and the baby was indeed safe; as Molly said, was sitting on the sidewalk (sometimes he would crawl a little bit in one direction or the other). I was surprised that they were doing this out on the front lawn rather than either in the house or in their privacy-fenced back yard with patio, unless there was not enough room back there, especially if they've got furniture and other stuff there as well. Those townhouses have pretty small yards. And, yes, the grass needs to be mowed over there -- usually the landscaping people come on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, weather permitting.

I was sitting here at the computer, happened to look out the sliding glass door and saw something large and blue in front of one of the townhouses across the lake, and thought, what IS that? Got up and moved to the door for a better look, but still wasn't sure what I was seeing. I reached into the armoire and grabbed the RX10 M4 with its 24-600mm (equiv) lens (faster and quicker to grab it than to assemble the Bazooka [200-600mm] and the A7R IV when all I intended to do was to use it as a telescope of sorts. Can't find my binoculars, I've misplaced them). I zoomed to 600mm and at last realized what I was seeing. By this time the large blue part that had initially attracted my attention was in a different position, now on the ground as they progressed with the assembly. I chuckled with amusement at Dad being the one to read the instruction sheet while Mom did the work, and then the baby came into view, crawling busily along..... Irresistible! I just HAD to fire off a shot or two!

Molly, that's actually amazing! You should sell that.
(BTW, i think you're lens needs a clean, there are dust spots in the frame, sorry, don't want to sound like a pedant - or is it pollen in the wind? - Either way that's a beautiful shot, well doen.)

thank you! not dust spots on the lens, just some atmosphere. ?

This is a little hazy because I shot through a window and screen but still liked it. I was safely inside in my dining room.

Halley the puppy was not as amused as I was to see him.

@mollyc:

I really like the subject and the composition. I might suggest playing around with the Topaz labs software offerings. Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, Gigapixel AI alone or in combination could clean up some of the artifacts present in the image and maybe get it closer to a clear-cut keeper that you would be proud to print and display. Your posted image obviously isn’t of the same quality as what you see on your computer, but the Topaz labs suite of software processing options might dramatically enhance this image. Just some un-asked for advice :).

I’ve personally found them to be extremely useful tools to have in my post-processing tool box.
