went looking for owl babies with friend the other night (who had already photographed them) but learned one had perished and one had gone missing. then we tried finding the parents but they were nowhere to be found. did find some bluebirds though.
Another shot from Turnbull NWR, a pair of Trumpeter Swans. At the distance I was away from them my 70-300mm lens was not good enough to get a closer shot.
The Pīwakawaka / NZ Fantail is a tempting but difficult subject. Weighing in at just 13 grams / 1/2 ounce, it is fearless as it flits around catching prey on the wing, and is seldom still for more than a moment. It often follows larger creatures, such as bumbling humans, who stir up insects in their wake....... Managed to snap this one a couple of weeks ago, but still looking for a better shot.
Lunch time. Each blue tit baby needs 100 of these a day apparently. With up to 10 babies in a clutch, it's no surprise they are so busy this time of year. They will be off soon though.
I've been putting my phone (iPhone SE) to the test because I haven't had the time to get out my DSLR a whole lot. Hopefully I can get some time to take my DSLR out some soon
Since the Lockdown, I've seen there is a lot of project diaries where I'm just taking limited photographs to go for a distance walk. Let's be honest, if we're not walking in the right places then how is it possible to take nice views! Great shots man, stay safe and keep up the good work.
