Received as a 'free' native tree given away by the county at a spring festival. After a few years about doubled in size and one or two blooms a year. Finally, this year...but thus far only one bloom. Was all excited when I saw about ten new projections like just beyond the magnolia bloom, but they just developed to leaves.

As promised. A kind of before, during and after using a triptych so as not to break the rules of one post per day.
Hopefully, you can see how the garden looked with a massive, dead tree (bottom right), turning into a new pond (bottom left)in the process of building and the final one is the (almost) finished article. A few more plants around and in the pond and i reckon it'll be ready to accept its first residents, which hopefully will be newts and frogs. The Damselflies are out in force at the moment, pictures of those to follow tomorrow.

Very pretty. Give it a year and it will look like it’s always been there.

Thansk. That's the plan. It's definitely not an overnight thing, if only i had done it when i first thought about it, it would be well established now, alas, i'll have to wait.

Moving them around here entails just laying them on top of the ground. They just don’t like to be buried!
Yeah , burying the rhizomes too deeply is just asking for trouble . Around here , usually we plant them with no more than 1/2" of soil covering the rhizome . I've got sandy river muck for soil and irises grow like weeds ( figuratively speaking, weeds always grow better)in my yard.

What did you do in post? Looks like something out of Borderlands.

Wow, sorry. I took the picture so long ago. Was leaving the university where I worked. I took it with an iPhone through the front window of my car. I was just trying to get Monroe to stand out.

I'm guessing some dorm dweller tossed it ;) It could of been some photo app in iOS. Wish I could remember it what it was. Found another one I'll post tomorrow that probably manipulated by same software.

No, it wasn’t a criticism, just an observation. The contrast made me think of that game‘s animation style.

I did not think it was a criticism at all my friend! I just wish I could find the app. I have a picture I need to find to show you what it did to a person. Kind of comic book style!

Note, I should have labeled it, “I have a crush on you!” ;)

Several times I have posted an image and then, all too late, realized that I should have done some "spotting/erasing" to remove the nasties from the image before posting.... Happens to all of us! So annoying, as I really DO look carefully at my images while post-processing them! Somehow, though, the "blobbies" have a way of sneaking in there and showing up only after I've already posted. GRRRRR!!!! I try to do a "blow job" with the Giottos Rocket Blower either prior to or immediately after shooting but sometimes just forget....until I see the evidence of my forgetfulness in a processed-and-posted image and realize, that, oops.....

I think I have grime that a quick blow won't fix.
