I saw the news Fri. morning about the potential major Geomagnetic storm, BUT...as usual in the Philly area and cool celestial events...just trash weather...and it was all day and night. Around 9pm, Im seeing online all these photos of the Aurora, even from Florida and...wow I was totally deflated, disgusted!

Kept checking my skies up until 1:30am, still clouds so I went to bed. Woke up little after 3am and saw the skies cleared. Jumped in my car and headed about 20 miles north away from Philly city lights. A faint red massive pillar off to my left caught my eye as i was driving...which blew me away. Quick pulled into this shopping center parking lot and grabbed pics. 2-5 second exposures on my DSLR... and I simply did not expect this! Mind blowing.

Not much time left since sky was getting light out fast to the west around 4:45am. (The pics from my 13 Pro Max - RAW came out better than I expected)

Bucks County, PA - around 4:30am

So I had driven with my wife to Duluth to shoot the Aurora in the wee hours on Saturday morning. Then we heard that it would still be strong, so I waited up until after midnight on Sunday, too, hoping to shoot in my neighborhood south of the Twin Cities.

Like @PhillyGuy72, though, we had overcast. But I did get a shot of the aliens that landed!

Haha! No. 10?

No, this is the Circus in Bath. 🙂
Oh dear, I need to look up more pics of 10 Downing Street, it's just while I love cats and dogs, most world leaders' photos make feel unwell. Bath btw is on my bucket list of destinations in the UK. Edit: Well even more embarrassed, No. 10 Downing is made with dark blue (?) brick.

This was the first site I found with a reasonable version of the story as I understand it:

True colours

These renovations didn't just have a lasting impact on the structure of the building. It was discovered that the original brick colour was actually yellow, much like a lot of other contemporary London buildings of similar design. They had turned black over years of pollution and smog.

The colour was distinctive enough that they wanted to keep it, so the bricks were cleaned and then painted the dark black colour they are today. So, although they look like they could be dark blue bricks, they are actually painted.
