Not many left. Did you watch "Masters of the Air"?

Yes, and read the book. Both are excellent. My father-in-law was a tail gunner in B-24's and was shot down over the English Channel the day after D-Day. He was the only survivor and was picked up by French fishermen. A family hid him for a few days but he was captured and held in a POW camp. He was in one of the marches from hell when they moved POWs when the Allies were getting close. Pretty harrowing.
