Have you tried just using a hose on a high pressure setting? Then a bit of olive oil on the underside of leaves where they lay their eggs.I hate roses with a vengeance, especially at this time of the year! All of our neighbours grow roses, and they spray them with noxious chemicals so that the aphids end up at our place where we are gardening organically, and we just have to rely on the ladybird bugs to do their thing... We've tried garlic sprays and chilli sprays, but to no avail...
That said, they are beautiful subjects to photograph!

Have tried high pressure water jets, but the buggers come back pretty quickly! At the moment we can't do that as the plants are mostly seedlings. We have a lot of veggie beds, so painting on something would be pretty tedious and time consuming.Have you tried just using a hose on a high pressure setting?
