Wherever I hang my hat...
Like others here, some locations keep drawing me back (if for no other reason than being close at hand...). Even if I park the tripod in exactly the same spot, the light is always different. The rocket on the hill represents a doomed attempt by Ulverston town council to launch the mayor into space...

Second attempt (first real attempt) at light trails.

Just a thought: try this again while there is still just a little light in the sky (even if its barely detectable to the eye). You'll get all the light trails, but the sky will be a beautiful 'midnight blue' (or maybe warmer colours, too, depending what the sunset was like).

Cool, thanks, I'll give it a go. Never really thought about it with a sunset. Ill go location scouting (because that scene is 80 miles away from me now) and find a new road/bridge and see where the sun sets. Thanks for the tip

Looks like the Yorkshire Dales... Is that Skipton in the distance??

It's Ireland actually. Taken from Two Rock Mountain in the Dublin Mountains, looking towards County Wicklow (the two mountains in the distance are the Little Sugar Loaf and the Great Sugar Loaf) and the Irish Sea. The town you can see is the seaside resort of Bray.

This is a nice composition and interesting application to tonal variances, but the background is distracting. It seems to be in a zone where it is between in focus and out of focus and has too much detail. A wider aperture might give better result.

My small monetary unit of opinion.

Hopefully this works - first attempt. I'd really appreciate a step-by-step outline of sharing from Flickr, or optimal file sizes to upload if you are doing from the computer though. This was a bit of a stab in the dark!

Hi. I prepared this a while ago and saved it in my MR folder. It refers to ImageShack (free).

First, you need a free online photo hosting site like flickr or ImageShack. I chose ImageShack. After you upload your file, select the thumbnail and right click it, selecting View Image. There will be a few scripts listed on the right, one of which reads Embed this Image (Link to Forums). Copy this url and go to your MR post message. There is a yellow icon that opens a box for posting a url. It is easy to miss. Paste your photo's url here and follow the instructions described in the following Forum link.
