Nuremberg? We traveled through there, en route from Munich to Prague, in 2002. Unfortunately, that day the weather was miserable - pretty heavy rain, etc, so photography was difficult. Would love to go back some day.
One of my favourite places. Not been there since I took up photography but it's on my list.We went to visit my dad this past weekend and on the way home we stopped off at Bamburgh Castle up the coast in Northumberland. Unfortunately when we got there is was closed so we couldn't get inside and it was high tide so we were restricted on where we could get to but we had fantastic fun in the dunes and on the beach.

Really struggling to work out the best way to process the images. The light was wonderful and warm but my skills are lacking so they are not coming out the way I want. AAAARGH!!!
Lovely long exposure.

Taken recently? Far to cold for butterflies up here. Nice capture.I think I'm getting the hang of this lens at last...

Didn't they mind you taking pictures? You were lucky not to have ended up in the brig!I will concede this may be of interest only to those interested in things military but this new (and somewhat controversial) destroyer looks like nothing else in anybody's naval fleet. Wish we could have toured this ship but there were a number of military personnel carrying big guns ensuring no one unauthorized got on board.

Yesterday. It's been a lovely week down souf, warm and bright but very breezy.Taken recently? Far to cold for butterflies up here. Nice capture.
There's some beautiful places round there. Just give Gateshead a wide berth were I used to live! I'd love to travel more, but not really an option for me.As a native North Easterner, I take for granted how spectacular the coastline is. Mrs Kenoh is raging at me as for once we went to see something other than Newcastle and my dads house. I always struggle to think of things for us to do, but then we have Alnwick, Warkworth, Bamburgh all castles, all within an hour of my dad!
It was a lovely jaunt and I have promised to take the family back next time to see Alnwick castle as it was in Harry Potter 1&2 as Hogwarts!
Lol. I've been using the heated seats on my new car all week!Yesterday. It's been a lovely week down souf, warm and bright but very breezy.
I was quite surprised the butterflies are still around.
Cheers

Used to live two minutes from the athletics stadium. Sort of area where the Alsatians go round in pairs....OI! My dad is from Gateshead!
So... you will get this one. You remember the concrete multi-storey car park that used to dominate the view of Gateshead from the Newcastle side of God's bridge?
It has been demolished and this is what it looks like now...

I've not been there for 19 years or so.
The young Ensign leading our tour said it was okay to go ahead and take pictures so a number of us did of course. Plus, it's not like there is a whole to look at anyway. Looks like a giant toy boat a small child might play with. I'm going to assume it's quite capable of doing what it needs to do though.
I was only there a couple of years, but my memory of the big market seems a little blurred!Yep. I went through there on the Metro yesterday.. it isn't any better. My grand parents used to live in the Regents Court block of flats across the road from the Talk of the Tyne pub - the round one...
It was depressing walking round in Washington yesterday. The place is run down, lacking investment and generally miserable. I left 18 years ago for a job.
Newcastle is a sorry excuse for its past. The Bigg Market on a Saturday night - empty pubs and no one around! Unheard of in my youth. We would have to queue to get into pubs they were that packed!
Went by the Quayside market on Sunday too! Again, not as I remember it at all.
Sad really. Seems to be about the casinos there now? They were never there or majlybe not as prominent in my day.
Anyhoo hope that brought back a memory or three.

It's a Stealth ship right? Like our type 22 (?) frigates. A modular platform that they drop modules on to configure them for different roles. Unlike aircraft that need sharp jaggy edges to reduce radar reflectivity, the ship's take on more regular geometry or something to get the same effect??? They look really weird and under armed yet their capabilities can almost replace an entire battle group of old. Amazing things. Nice picture. Thanks for sharing

I recall a bar called idols we used to go to.
Funny enough it might have been around the same time you were drinking there. 94-96ish I'd say.
