Sheffield Park, East Sussex, yesterday.
Another more dramatic test to see if normal EBV was up to the task of keeping the highlights. Post-image I did darken the image, choosing to let the shadows go black. It would be easy enough to keep the detail but I prefer the more dramatic effect.

I like the matching colors with the water, all tones of brown /beige and a touch of black and white to underline the beauty of the duckFirst sighting of a Hooded Merganser on our lake this season! Hopefully more of them will join him soon, as it is odd to see just one on his own.

Thanks! Yes, I rather appreciated how the lake was picking up the colors surrounding it: mostly the trees and grounds plus nearby houses -- perfect complement to the Hooded Merganser's own coloring!I like the matching colors with the water, all tones of brown /beige and a touch of black and white to underline the beauty of the duck

Not early with all these COVID-19 days and post office delays. Better shop, ship, and be merry early while you can. Merry Christmas and happy new year to all in this forum...in advance from a female version of AlaskaMooseA bit too early View attachment 1884209
I bet you were glad to have that 8-18 at Yosemite. Take in as much of that beauty as possible!View attachment 1884159

Yup ... sure was glad . I found I was using it a lot more than I thought I would , especially at the wider end . The in - body corrections , plus the RAW editor I usually use (DXO Photolab) seem to minimize the distortions one might expect from something this wide . Didn't realize this shot was done at 8mm until I looked at the lens data prior to entering in below the image in my post .I bet you were glad to have that 8-18 at Yosemite.
