Holy moly! That is stunning!
Thanks! I've never seen one like this before , either . I found the plant in a small garden shop some distance from my house . Sign on the road said '30% off all tropicals' so I picked a couple up ... not in bloom , but they were cheap , figuring to winter them over on my glassed in sun porch , and put them out next year. The others are more mundane , but I was blown away by this thing .
No big deal to take the picture ..... the flower is in a soda bottle , sitting on a piece of black construction paper on the porch floor . Hand held , no tripod .. saved by image stabilization . Maybe 5 minutes in post to tidy up exposure , deepen blacks , and crop out a bit of the bottle that peeked out from under the flower . Sometimes you just get lucky !

Yes the way you captured it, the lovely transitions in the tones, the texture of the petals...

Yep, you guessed it... High score on the jealous I didn't take it scale! :)

Interior shot of the Guardian Building in Detroit. In addition to being one of the tallest free-standing brick buildings in the world, a couple of the numerous features of this landmark art deco building include ceiling mosaics made consisting of Pewabic and Rockwood tiles and one of the last pieces made (designed?) by Louis Tiffany (the clock).

I swear we had one that size in the lounge last night. Speedy as well. No way Mrs AFB would have let me get the camera.
It's cup, trap then take him across the street!

This is known locally as a Banana Spider, or more accurately - Golden Silk Orb Weaver. They're harmless and non poisonous. They just eat bugs. I've seen some as big as my hand.
