A Kookaburra on Moreton Island, who refused to make eye contact with me.

Love this and agree with AFB's comments about the difficulty of shooting something like this. Have to have everything dead center level in both the horizontal and vertical planes to avoid distortion. Also have to be standing dead center in the middle of the aisle to maintain symmetry (or be far enough off that it is obvious it was intentional).

One other thing I love about this is the color gradient going from warm at the bottom to cooler at the top.

My only (very) minor quibble is the lack of symmetry from the stained glass window on the right without something to balance it on the left. Possibly crop it a little tighter to exclude some of the extraneous stuff on the right edge?

Stellar shot. Love it!!

Thank you very much for your kind comments :)

Of all things, I was considering getting rid of the Sony RX100, but it is so portable and useful to carry everywhere, and the quality is so good for such a small camera that I'm keeping it ;)

Cheers :)

Wish we had these fellas here. Such cool birds. Don't think I've ever seen (read a photo of) a brown one, guess they come in different flavors.

Beautiful Alex!

I believe our version of a Kookaburra is a Kingfisher but you wouldn't get close enough to a Kingfisher to even attempt eye contact. This guy looks laser-focused on something...cool.

~ Peter

Peter is absolutely correct, Kooka's are a part of the Kingfisher family. Of which we have an absolute myriad present here in Oz, they also have a huge presence all across the globe.

A photo of our dinner setting on Moreton Island, where we got to sit outside and watch the sun set over the beach, taken a little while before service started. Mind you I didn't get to laze about, as I went rushing off taking sunset shots. Wish we had have booked in for an overnight stay now, instead of leaving straight after the post sunset wild dolphin hand feeding which my wife did, she's a big dolphin freak!
