That's kind of what I did..... In addition to putting the freezer pac thingies in the freezer I also put in several small bottles of water, too.

The hurricane isn’t even coming here now. I know it’s going to be very bad in a lot of places, but it was way overhyped for DC in the end. But better to be prepared.

I haven't been checking the latest reports, was out running some errands after the iPhone Event, but last I heard was that it is going to be down South/coastal region and somewhat inland where they'll really bear the brunt of it all...... It sounds as though it is going to be just horrible for them!! Thankful that we are going to be dodging this particular bullet. I agree, it never hurts to be prepared! I usually do keep my freezer pretty full anyway and in the past it has paid off. Bottled water I use all year around, as it's handy not only at home but also on long drives when taking a road trip somewhere. Some of the extra foods that I bought will definitely be consumed regardless of the weather and power situation, anyway!

Going forward I anticipate having a little more time for photography but I probably should put off getting a new camera and lenses for a couple of years. Our younger daughter has finished high school and is now a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Picked up my Masters at CMU. Two very tough years in a great town. Pittsburgh was a most pleasant surprise.

My wife and I got engaged to be married and soon thereafter she went off to CMU to get her Masters degree ('94). I loved visiting her in Pittsburgh and really enjoyed the city but for her at the time it was a tough two years as well. Last month with our daughter during freshman orientation she got all caught up in the atmosphere and excitement and really only recalled how great the school is. Over the years I've learned that those times which don't always seem that great at the time often enough are the good times we'll remember in the future. :)

I would imagine you'll know where this picture was taken. :D

Well, it seems about the right vantage to have been taken from the Tower of Learning, at Pitt.
A wonderful gothic building, and a place I spent more than a few hours studying, on the ground floor. I found it to be both uplifting and humbling.
I graduated in ‘91.

It was kind of a bad day for outside photography for it was overcast, so I decided to take pictures of a couple of dolls that my late mother just simply loved. My mother grew up during the depression (the true depression of the 1930s) and didn't have much as a child. So when I got older and had a good paying job I would buy her a doll for her birthday. These dolls are not your ordinary dolls that you find at your local toy store. Anyways, I just thought I would take some pictures of a couple of them for the "Photo of the Day" with hopes of brightening someone's day. ;):)
