Another fire in the mountains, just when our air had finally cleared up (except for the usual ozone buildup). This one is about 10 miles south of us and went from 1,500 acres to 20,000 in a day, thanks to the wind.

Dont take this the wrong way...

It is an incredibly beautiful effect in the sky.

I cant even visualise mentally what 20,000 acres looks like! That is an amazing spread of fire in a day.

A retired neighbor of my cousin's in Detroit built hot rods on the side for a number of years to help finance his drag racing (which he still does at 70 years young!). This '47 Chevy he's owned for 40 years; it, with the right fuel mixture, puts out 850 hp. And it is very loud. No, I should say extremely loud. And cool.

Unfortunately I didn't get a decent picture of his drag racing car he has built himself in his shop (namely because it was half taken apart). It generates 1800 hp, gets up to 256 mph, and requires two 14 ft. parachutes to slow him down to the 150 mph range. To use your brakes before then would literally burn them up. Between the car and the races he had plenty of entertaining stories to share.

Love the matte paint job.

What PP did you do? Noise looks okay to me for a night time shot.

Wish you a nice weekend :)

I have Elements 15 now (since my PhotoShop CS4 stopped playing properly in High Sierra), and I can actually do most of the same things in PP, but I don't think I did much more than a little colour correction and the lowest amount of noise reduction using Imagenomic Noiseware. I still lost a little quality in the photo, but cleared the noise up acceptably.
To be honest it wasn't that bad in the first place, but I just have to fiddle.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Night Launch.jpg
Never made it back for another launch before they halted the shuttle program. Was always iffy - cancel a launch in the final minutes of the countdown, but guaranteed to have bumper to bumper traffic. This was taken from about 5 miles away on the western shore of the Intercoastal Waterway which is a popular viewing area if not one of the lucky few selected at lottery for onsite viewing.

Have been flat out like a lizard lately, dealing with getting a participants exhibition together & yesterday I got the images hung for my own launch tomorrow afternoon! I got to speak on an open forum panel session today for the 2018 Shimmer Biennale Photographic Festival about my path to recovery from intense mental health challenges as facilitated through digital photography & tomorrow morning I have a Mindful Photography walk around a coastal & estuary area close by. The winery I have been paired with is the perfect space for my images, which look really nice in their space! This time around they are all printed at A1 & A2 sizes, so pack a little more punch than my previous efforts, where I have only printed at A3 or slightly larger.

Oh, I forgot, I got a 21 page feature, a cover & a silver award in the latest Camerapixo fine art photography release out of Europe!
