I was never a fan of driving on these long bridges. Getting to New Orleans from the north or west is more of the same! The original rail/roadway/bridge to Key West. This is the Bahia Honda Bridge (not the more famous 7 mile bridge) originally built in 1912 as a rail only passage to Key West. After a hurricane destroyed the rail passage, the upper portion was built to be wide enough for cars until the new bridge to the right was built in 1975. So yes, wide 60's and 70's vintage cars were driving on that! Also, that round pipe sitting on the old rail tracks was the fresh water supply for Key West and all the islands leading to it. Section intentionally removed for boat passage.

My advice, spend more time in these locations if possible Ken.This is beautiful
So it looks like my annual pilgrimage to Vegarse is back on this year in November. So I am planning to fly into San Francisco and then drive through Yosemite and Death Valley over three days to Vegas. Do my work thing then get the hell out of Dodge.
Any tips or suggestions on stop off point welcome. I am considering renting a motor home/small RV.
Thanks.

Also, the shortest route east from Yosemite Valley to Death Valley is via the Tioga Rd. Historically, the Tioga Rd closes for the winter season starting early to mid November. The only other routes east will add a fair amount of time if Tioga is closed. Not a big problem if you plan for it. Tioga Rd closing.
Great shot well done!
There could still be snow/ice on the roads in Yosemite. Here is a link to save driving in the park and their requirements for tire chains. Thanks for the heads up. i have been looking at historical data of closures. We arrive November 1st and will be through by the 3rd. Historically there has only been 2 years in the past 20 when the pass has closed that early in the year so we are hoping to get lucky. Of course knowing my luck, this year will be the third time in 20 years! Lol....
You sure it's not a female sparrow?A different type of Wren on the picnic table next to us. I'm yet to find out what type this one is, I haven't seen them before! it's probably about 8cm, or just over 3" in length from tip of tail to end of beak.
