My son had a minor surgery at Boston Children's this week and I walked to a nearby Apple Store to get him an iPad for his upcoming birthday. Along the way I stumbled across this sewer grate. I've taken pictures of sewer grates in other cities I've visited (not quite enough to make a series out of them, but an ongoing project). For this one I like how the light and shadows create an optical illusion across the face of the grate (almost like an Escher drawing). Felt like sharing.

Hope your little fella is recovering well - and happy birthday!

Playing around with the macro setting on my 24-70/4 .....

Works pretty well . The setting seems to shift the lens optics so as to get the same effect as an extension tube . It won't let you get to life size , but this ain't too bad ...
