Actually, I'd replenished the trays just before setting out on my walk! Maybe there was a crowd up on my deck and these guys decided to relax down on the boardwalk while they waited their turn..... LOL!
In my experience they don’t wait their turn. They push and shove until they make it their turn!
Oh, yes, I've seen and heard plenty of that, too! Accompanied by plenty of squawking and hopping over each other, flying over each other.....
I tortured my mind and came to the conclusion that it's some kind of stonefish. I don't know which species precisely, though.
