Check this Andromeda picture out. It's the 'rest of the story', showing things in the Hydrogen line. Freaked me out...

And this one really left me not sleeping for a night:

All that 'stuff', racing around zipping in and out of Earth's orbit. Cosmic billiards. We have been VERY lucky. One day, our luck will run out.

(I didn't take these, but they are so interesting, frightening, fascinating)
Surprised that someone else has "caught" this. The "rules" for this thread say photos posted are "yours" and you clearly state that you didn't take these. Furthermore, the "rules" also state that you can only post one photo per day. Please remember this in the future.

I apologize. I was really going to just post the first one as a follow on to the original post. I was totally blown away by that image. It looks like a completely different universe when the 'hidden' stuff is sussed out of the darkness. There is a lot of 'there' there...

Apologies...

EDIT: Post edited to remove images, and insert one link for the Andromeda image.

I saw this but at the time was interrupted and so never got back straightaway to mention that this was against the policies set for this particular thread..... Good that someone else caught it and commented! Thanks, Pinky, for correcting your error.....

ummm. so i am reluctant to admit that i did not realize before right now that you are female. your name is generic enough to go either way and since this site skews so heavily male i assumed you were also. it’s nice to have more women here. ?
lol, it can be difficult to tell based on usernames, but my secrets out now ?

Long Beach Washington. Kites at the beach. I saw seven colorful artfully shaped kites against a bright blue sky, being flown by one man. Masterful. An old pickup truck in the distance with two kites soaring above, one boxy in shape. I needed to get closer to take a good image. Off I went, walking toward the scene, feet treading in the mounded soft sand, walking slowly to keep my balance. If I were being chased by Yeti I would not have survived. A foggy mist lay behind the pickup truck as these magestic kites flew in flight decorating the sky. Our final days in Washington.

They didn't actually. It's just that the Universal Translator can't make sense of their language due to its unique structure and resorts to translate it verbatim. ?

The character himself used English words. There was no universal translator involved, as I remember. Plus how would the UT translate an alien utterance into the word 'sails'. *shrug* It's a great episode, but you have to suspend a lot to get into it. It's one of the best STNG did, but still...
