This evenings tea, taken on my Pixel 7 Pro

30 day aged dry hung brisket in to slow cook with root veg and herbs from our garden (carrots, early leeks, celery (hasn’t faired well but perfect for cooking with) and shop bought onions… Thyme and bay from the garden too

That looks yummy... Nothing like fresh stuff from the garden as well..

Fully agree… I’m a good month or so behind this year due to a few niggling health issues and operations, so stuffs coming through well now, but a bit late..

The greenhouse is packed with various tomatoes, peppers, chillis and cucumbers and I’ve carrots, parsnips, potatoes, leeks, kalettes, cavelo nero and various beetroot’s in the ground. Even grown horseradish this year and by the size of the leaves, it seems to be doing very well!

A lot of that is the winter / over winter veg, but there’s a good bit that can be picked now. The young carrots are lovely and sweet and the golden beetroot are fantastic steamed (the leaves are great for cooking with too)

Haha it’s not unheard of…

My Mums birthday is end of September (2 days off my father in laws birthday), so we generally have an ‘Indian Summer’ party at ours with wholesome grub and a lot picked from the garden ;)

But that’s not happening this year as both sets of parents are away for my Mums 70th…

TBH a lot of what I grow is for over winter and Christmas too, root veg gets better with a good frost or 2, so I do like to leave a lot in the ground :)
