I really want to get into HDR but I have no software (nor the money to buy the many-hundred-dollar softwares that exist) but I like how this shot has enough of the sky and the trees to look good without needing HDR processing.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am relatively new to photography (maybe 4 months) so any feedback would be appreciated.

Took this one this morning close to the country retreat where I'm taking a teaching course.

I haven't looked at the thread for a while and was shocked to see the closed sign. Then I found the continued here post....whew!

Taken yesterday at my friends b-day party. I usually don't post pics of such things, but I really liked they way it looked especially after doing a gaussian blur in photoshop.

Camera: Nikon D40
Shutter: 1/6 second (and handheld, I think it came out good for being handheld!)
Aperture: f/5.3
ISO: 1600
Focal Length: 45mm
Lens: 18-55mm kit

I love this! Do the people you take pics of ever see you and get pissed? I really want to do more of this kind of photography but i'm afraid people will get pissed!

They sometimes see me, but I've never had anyone confront me about it. You get mixed reactions. Some people smile, some look at you funny and some just plain ignore you. Depends how you look I guess. A lot of the time I'm in uniform so maybe the fact I'm a student makes them nicer to me. Don't go out and take photos while looking really shady. This will just make people suspicious and less welcoming.

Taken on campus at Portland State University near the end of the 1995 Pacific Rim Economic Conference which was held there for two days in June, 1995. In this shot Clinton addresses a large crowd which had waited hours to hear him speak. The lighting was tricky (extreme contrast,) since it was severe sidelighting with the sun at a low angle, yet in the shade of the elm trees of the South Park Blocks. The SS gave me about 1 minute from this spot. Scanned from a work print (print done on RC paper meant to be scanned, not displayed...) Please: No politics, pro or con, on the subject. This was strictly non-partisan journalism :)

That's actually a really good picture. There's something Kennedy-esqe about it.

After sunset...

Driving south from Pacific City, I pulled over near Neskowin to catch the last glow of the sunset. I know the horizon is too centered, and a bit askew. It might be better straightened and cropped, but I'm feeling too lazy...;)

Great capture...really like the high contrast

Wow, just beautiful. Nothing beats a good print, but this one really glows. I bet it looks even better in person.
