Shooting the Monument

This is my first post in this thread. Hope you all like it.

I'll admit, there was just a little amount of post-proc in aperture.

I borrowed this lens from my friend in the pic), and I just might have to get this on my D40 and do the MF thing instead of saving up and spending 3x as much on a sigma 30mm 1.4. (When is Nikon going to come out with some AF-S primes!?)

Thanks,

Flash from ~3-5 feet to the right of the camera.

Note the shadow that my friend is casting on himself; a byproduct of the off-centered flash. That was an interesting, and unexpected, effect.

Okay, so this is the first picture I have ever posted for others to see online - be nice. I used a crappy digital P&S, and then Picasa to make it B&W. Taken at a restaurant in Athens, Ga where my wife and I were eating.

I used to shoot a lot of photos with an SLR, but bills came, I sold all my equipment and went back to school to try to start my 3rd career. Now I am about halfway through school and am taking pictures that aren't just candids of friends again (with my crappy P&S) and loving it. May have to step up to a DSLR soon.

Finally got a DSLR!

I finally got a DSLR today, a Nikon D40 :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Anyway, Heres one of my practice shots, I've finally realised why I needed a DSLR, I can't imagine how much film I would have wasted trying to get this one right!!! I hope this is the start of a lifetimes hobby hehe :) well its allready a hobby but... ;-)

Anyway, the photo, yes it has been edited in Photoshop (Old habits die hard...), and yes any feedback is gladly welcome!

This is Lake Windermere, in the English Lake District...

I still don't understand how to insert a full-size pic into the body of my post (ie not just a thumbnail to click on). Can somebody whisper in my ear, please... :)

My nephew wanted to be like me and go around taking pictures so we gave him an old p&s and he follow me around all day. I was on the ground taking a photo of a flower when I noticed that he was on the ground too so I snapped this picture.

I took this one in January using a Canon Film Rebel for a photography class at school. I believe the assignment was to take a photograph having to do with the word 'urban'.
