Well this next shot is a bit weird perhaps...it all started a few months ago with a competition on Nikoncafe called "return to normalcy" where the premise was shoot anything for the duration of the challenge- but only use one prime or a zoom taped to one focal length.
When I was post processing one raw file I tried a number of curves. Out of frustration I made a really weird one by plotting as many curve points as possible and sent the peaks and valleys all over the place. It made for a really neat effect. I saved the curve, picked a different one and submitted it.
I thought the curve was gone forever when my windows PC crashed, but this week I got it sort of running so I could get the last things off it that I hadn't backed up and put them on my mac. This curve was among them. With a few tweaks, I loaded it into my D2HS, then replaced the old curve I had in the D2HS, then since I don't use a custom curve in my D200 loaded it in there. It does some weird things with noise, weirder things with colors.
This next shot is a JPEG straight out of the camera with the exception of a quick resize in Nikon Capture. Just a warning, it may hurt your eyes

Could have done better, but this was my first try with that curve and I wanted to stay far away so as not to disturb the baby. The lens on the camera dictated the focal length, and finding something to brace against dictated my framing
