That looks absolutely amazing; I hadn't known that France is also home to some very good micro-breweries.
Indeed, and many of the local beers are very good as well, the region next to the Lake Geneva region Haute Savoie (High Savoy) is a good example.

French Alps mountain brews
(In French)

The "Brasserie du Mont Blanc" make nice brews that my avatar's buddies (Vikings dear readers) would appreciate.

Had a Steam Brew again recently. These are so great, especially the whole look and feel.
IMG_2245.jpeg

They have quite a few different beers. The session and imperial IPA are the only two I can find at my local Lidl but a hop over the border and I can buy their stout or red ale.

Recommend them if you'll be able to find them anywhere. It's really cheap for half a litre, often around 1 to 1.20 euro.

Nice, checked out their website, quite creative, curious as where are you located. I am in Geneva, Switzerland and we have Lidl here but have not checked them out in awhile.

I'm from the Netherlands, I just checked Lidl.ch and they seem to have them for 1.19chf, which is close to what they cost here. They do seem to have the entire assortment too, which we sadly lack!

Found some really cool looking craft beers at Aldi today. I've already tried the blond, nothing special, a bit sour but has its own character.

I like the concept of the bottle designs. 'Beer factory' and then using terms most often heard in factory work. ('snipperdag' = day off, 'ploegbaas' = shift manager, 'schafttijd' = lunch time)

Fascinating.

This looks to be worth investigating further.

The dunkel was absolutely stellar. I should have bought a 4-pack to bring home, but I purchased a 4-pack of something I didnt try (their Piedmont Ale, called Apres) and that was a mistake.
A good quality dunkel (for this is a style that I also love) is to be cherished.

And it is also a beverage that one should stock up.....in ample quantities.

I wonder if they'd have it in the US 🤔
Because Aldi is two different stores (because of a dispute by the two founding brothers back in the 60s), Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd. Afaik, Aldi Süd is the one they have in the US, while Aldi Nord is the one they have in the Netherlands. They own Trader Joes though, so who knows!

We've got a few Aldi markets where I live in Virginia, but I cant say I've seen any of those beers, or anything that even looked that interesting. I'll have to make a stop again soon to browse.

We have Aldi in Switzerland though not as many as the two main Swiss supermarkets, Migros and Coop, but they consistently have lower prices and a good selection of products plus no alcohol sold in Migros (but in there discount shop Denner). Gotta check it out this week.

.. some recent tastes -- four different ales from a box set from Philips Brewing & Malting Co -- a craft brewery located in Victoria, BC. -- purchased here, by my lady, for some pre-summer tastes. I have known this brewery, and several of their well-crafted ales for a few years now. After first tries of their products during a stay in Victoria a few years ago, daughter and I have enjoyed several we have taken away during family get-away's, and such. Some memories, and some new ones will be created with these current tastes.

Yesterday we were at the Achelse Kluis, the abbey were Achel is brewed. I made a post earlier this year about how they are sadly no longer a true Trappist beer because the monks moved out. But it's still a damn fine beer, and a lovely abbey as well. Right on the border of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Most people come by bicycle because then the of course can have a taste and still get home, but if you come by car there's a small car park that has its entrance in Belgium but you exit into the Netherlands! :p

The sadly are not brewing a blonde beer at the moment (except for a specialty one in 75cl bottles) but they are brewing the excellent Tripel and Dubbel

Wow.

Thanks for sharing.

Even though they are no longer a classic (or are no longer ,formally classed as) a Trappist brewery, I would imagine that the beer from Achel (which I have never actually seen, let alone, sampled, savoured, swallowed...) is still excellent.

Anyway, I can only hope that you had a wonderful time; count me both envious and fascinated.

Truly excellent beer, totally has its own character, which some Tripels lack.
Even though they're not a trappist brewery anymore they actually sell beers from every other trappist abbey as well. I should've bought them but I didn't realise they were selling them until after we were gone. Otherwise I could've tasted the only British trappist, Tynt Meadow.

Fantastic.

Even beers from (the legendary and difficult to obtain) Westvleteren?

Ah, yes, Tynt Meadow.

Another beer that I am longing to make the acquaintance of.

It's a nice summer evening, 11pm, sunday. So that calls for my favourite beer of all time, Tripel Karmeliet, which I only buy when it's on sale, because damn, is it expensive. It's normally like 8 euros for 6 25cl bottles but on sale its below 7.

Such an amazing beer!
