This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory—maybe something with a multimillion-dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made in a little brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless fizzy yellow beer will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multimillion-dollar ad campaigns make a beer taste better. Perhaps you’re mouthing your words as you read this.
Funny enough, I'm drinking an Arrogant Bastard Ale, so I guess we're enjoying a couple of bastards
AB is very good, has a bit of the same taste profile as a Backwoods and/or Dirty Bastard, it's sold in 16oz cans, so at 7.2% ABV, normalized to our typical 12oz cans/bottles, makes a single serving like a ~9.6%.
The best part is their really funny marketing, from the Arrogant Brewing site:
Sounds amazing. What tasting notes can you share? This is not a beverage I have ever laid eyes on. Now, I have had both the Backwoods Bastard, and the Dirty Bastard (both are excellent, but I preferred the former), but Arrogant Bastard Ale is a new one.
I shall keep a close eye out for it - or, better still, see if I can have an order placed.
It has a big molasses taste, maybe a hint of licorice, with a nice mix of raisin/date/plum, nice hop finish, notable, but not huge like a "big" IPA, but very present, very dry. Sweet, a little toffee in the middle, front to back is a really different experience, the aroma and up front malts really hides the hops.
Forgot to post these on Saturday.
First is LVL, a triple IPA at The Veil. Had 2 of these there, and at 11% ABV i was quite happy that my wife was driving.
Next was a flight of beers and some food at Beer Is The Answer brewpub. Food was amazing, and the Konku and King Kahuna stouts were the winners of that bunch.
I dont recall where we went aftwrwards, but there was more good beer to be had throughout the rest of the day, and I spent Sunday recovering
