Went to a really nice specialty beer and wine shop, 'Kroon & Kurk'. They have a really nice selection of all sorts of beers and I was recommended a few beers by the owner.

This one was a tripel from Maastricht he really liked and which won a few prizes some years ago. It has a really nice spicy feeling in the back of my throat, don't know where that comes from but it tastes very nice.

Also bought some other beers, I'll post 'em when I drink 'em!

Oh I can drink this all day

I just noticed your post, you got it at Lidl right? I've recently found out that they're selling Lidl's cheapest own beer at a huge markup in the US :p13 dollar for a pack of six 500ml bottles made me laugh out loud since they sell it in Germany for around €2,50-3 for a pack of six (they even have them in plastic bottles!) That said, I actually think the beer is an insanely good value for the price since they still brew according to the reinheitsgebot. Compare that to the cheapest beer they sell in the Netherlands where they actually add in caramel colouring to make it look like beer, and it'll seem like an impossibility for the price.

Anyways, I've tried out Gajes (Bargoens word for 'thugs' or 'hoodlums') which I've also bought at the speciality beer store. Very nice hoppy tripel, more IPA in taste than a tripel but certainly a nice mix.

With coriander as well, so I guess for some people this makes it taste even more soapy than an IPA already is! I don't have that issue with hops or cilantro but I know my dad does :p

Yum.

I love those specialty wine and beer shops.

Do enjoy; this is a beer I have never encountered.

It’s been a minute. Here are some recents.

Contrary to what the glass says, I'm actually enjoying a Westmalle Tripel right now. Although I should try to find some Tripick as I don't recall the beer (or how this glass ended up in its cabinet)
Westmalle Tripel is a superb beer, - do enjoy - and the (appropriate) glass/chalice is a gloriously chunky glass goblet.

Had a Kwaremont. I've had this beer quite a few times before. But now I finally own the appropriate glass for it.
We had a family meeting at my uncle's house and I noticed he had around 4 of these glasses displayed and asked him about them and he immediately offered me one of them. He is known in the professional cycling field and received them as a gift some years ago but he doesn't use them.

I really like the embossed cyclist climbing up that 6.6% hill which the beer is named after and the alcohol percentage is also based on.
:)

Cool but don't cycle after drinking one or two of those.

Some from the past couple of weeks. 🍻

Great story, lovely images, and a doubtless delicious beer that I have yet to make the acquaintance of.

Do enjoy.

As I hail from Across The Pond, none of these beers are known to me (as in, I have never ever laid eyes on, let alone actually tasted, sampled, sipped and savoured any of them), but I do know of both Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig, and will admit that they are among the beers to secure a spot on my Beer Bucket List.
