Exactly. Plus, I feel A LOT more in control of the car when I'm driving a manual transmission. I always feel really awkward when driving an automatic.
Another thing, automatic transmissions seem to die a lot easier than a manual transmission.
It gives me one less hand to eat/drink/talk with.
I really don't ever want to drive an automatic car again. I feel it takes away the experience of driving a car.
I fail big time at driving auto's, I don't trust them. The car decides when to change gear, I feel like if I'm mid corner and it decides to just go up/down a gear I could lose it. Or if I'm trying to get out onto a busy road, I put my foot down and the car just screams at you and takes its bloody time to move.
Manual for ever.
Got an auto in my A4, seems pretty responsive so far. And the newer DSG autos are very nice. I wanted to get manual, but my parents are tired of driving stick after 20 yrs.
DSGs are a dual clutch electronically controlled manual transmission. There is no torque converter, so that eliminates most issues that people have with automatics.
I drove a clean TDI with a DSG, it was nice, so quick at shifting.
i wouldnt say im obsessed it's just more fun. my current car has the tiptronic to simulate it. of course it doesn't replace an actual manual transmission but it is nice to sometimes not have to worry about shifting. my favorite tho is the paddle shifters.
Because... When I learnt to drive... We all drove manuals... I love the control over my car... I admit, that in my new car... the Paddles are very impressive... but I still love the control of a manual... My favourite box is the 4-Speed that was put in Lotus Elans... it is, and always will be one of the best designed gearboxes in the world!!!
I'm the exact opposite I prefer my manual Jetta over my paddle shifting GTR.
