As a daily driver, it probably is better than an E9x M3.

The performance limits on the newer M cars are getting awfully high. My Z4MC was just hitting its sweet spot at 80 or so. The newer M3 and M5 are crazy fast. I got to spend some seat time in an E92 M3, but I couldn't drive the car hard enough to even come within sight of its limits. You can't experience the performance potential of these cars on the street, not without taking crazy risks. The only place you can sanely savor what cars like these have to offer is on a race track.

That's one of the reasons I poured a bunch of money into my old E46 and stopped dreaming about M cars. For me, it's more fun to drive a slower car at 7 or 8 tenths than a fast car at 3 or 4 tenths.

That wasn't their argument though. They say it is a better performance car then the M3. Just put JB3 on it and you have around 400 HP out of the N54...........

Amen to that. I actually have had more fun with my MINI John Cooper Works at the track than I did with my E46 M3 before that. Some of the instructors told me I was faster in the MINI than I ever was in the M3.

I know. If your goal is to stoplight race Mustangs or the like, which is likely the case with the average forum poster, then it probably is a better performance car than the M3.

<==way too old for that crap

Yeah, that is why I like my 240sx - it's slow but great fun to drive... keep me out of the tickets too. I love bikes because you can really relatively close to a real race bike out of the box - and then it's more about the rider than the machinery. Case in point - guys on stock Ninja 250s outlapping guys on modded GSXR1000s.

nice bike, are they hard to ride? i'd like to get one when i'm older..which would probably be another like 10-15 years...

Hard to ride properly, and not really the safest thing to be riding on the street. Track yes, street no.

My old daily F4i, tracked it often. Looked like total ass :) I can't bring myself to have a street ridden bike anymore - too dangerous where I live and the way I ride.

Nice. How is the upkeep on them? Can a home mechanic do most or does it require dealership visits?

Quit quoting pictures people!

well they are so simple and so little to them that upkeep is pretty simple for maintenance providing you do your own oil changes. A dealer will charge you $200+ for an oil change. Tires are the biggest expense in upkeep if you are actually taking your car to the track. With Lotus, it is a different beast. We don't care about horsepower we care about lightness. My car only weights about 1800 lbs. Corners like it is on rails.

Very happy with the nippy little thing, insurance is still astronomical, however. The joys of being under 25!

Can't wait until next Thursday after its been serviced/MOT etc then it's all mine.

It has NO iPod connectivity, I'm going to have to sort something out... Can't use one of those FM tuners because I need the lighter power port in the car for my GPS. Apparently you can get other systems installed?
