Good eye! Yeah, that's a 2-Eleven. We had a great chase with him. More pics are in my gallery and there's video from my car that day with the Lotus and another RS playing a great game of leapfrog.

I thought it looked like one. I love that car, though I've never seen one in person. There is just something awesome about a crazy, track-focused car like that. I'd love to own one as a weekend toy. :D

Yeah, they're tremendous fun. The car seemed to get gutless north of 120MPH so I could pretty easily catch him on the two longer straights, but I couldn't match his corner entry speeds and my car's not exactly a heavyweight. It was impressive.

Light and nimble is way more fun than powerful, that's for sure.

Loving all the G owners finally showing up! Got tired of all the BMW's (not that there is anything wrong with them)...

My friend and I managed to get some work done(for once), with a bit of help and yelling from my brother.

First off, new tires!

Bumper off.

skip a few steps.

Tranny out!

Timing on one of the cams skipped a tooth, not sure if it was from my brother ****ing with them and almost slicing his finger open or if it was like that before. (The slots at the end of the cams should be at the same angle.

And the head's off!

Could use some clean up.

Boyfriend approved.

I didn't know that those six cylinder engines used chain instead of cambelt. My father has a Bora and at one point my brother had a Golf and I had one too.

I had a lot of issues with mine and I was happy to go back to premium. One of the things I liked about BMWs is the chain. Whoever had a cambelt snapped knows what it means not to worry about it at all.

Yeah, it's on the transmission side too. (N)

I found a chunk of the guide in the oil pump a few months ago, just one guide is broken, everything else is fine, but I'm going to change it all anyways.

While I'm in there I'm going to give him some bigger cams and port the exhaust manifold and down pipe, should go nice with my current exhaust and new intake. :p

If you wanted this amount of work done from a garage in the UK, that would have cost you almost as much as the car itself. I am no expert, but I don't work in a garage either. Many here who do just haven't a clue.

I am actually excited to see that some people still have the courage to work on an engine. Good luck with the car!

Very cool to see someone working on their own car! I did similar, but just replacing the stuff associated with a timing belt change. I might need to dive in deeper now because its starting to drink the oil, namely on cyl. #6. BTW, I think those are the last of the good looking Jetta's.

That white Subie is just bitchin!

Wow, I didn't know VW put a 12V VR6 in a car that new ?! In Germany the MK IV Golf and all its siblings came with a 4V/cylinder layout.

They also came with 4motion over there.

We did get the 24v in the 2002-2004 "GLI" which was just a GLX with a 24v VR6 and a 6speed. The real GLI came with Recaro seats and a 1.8T and a short ratio 6 speed, and a sexy outside.

But I don't mind my VR6, it should have damn near 200 wheel horse power when I'm done, which isn't too bad considering it had about 160 wheel horse power to start.
