A quick search says that PDK weighs 66lbs (about 30Kg) more than the 6-speed manual option.
That's about what a moonroof/sunroof adds, except with a double-clutch the added weight is low CG. If I wanted it, I wouldn't be too concerned about that added weight, unless I was getting it as a serious track car, which is not the case.

Woot! I bet that asphalt is not nice to the tires. Looks to be a pretty clean run. I really envy that overlay you get with the iphone app. Have I asked before how you are getting your rpm guage? I really want to see my throttle input, tach, speed and g-forces if I could. Though I am OBDI....dunno what there is for that. I wouldn't want to spend over $300 for something like that.

I do wonder how much rotating weight a dual clutch adds, and how it might hurt accel. However I bet the gains in shifting speed are much higher.

As for a sunroof/ moonroof...I don't want to go back to NOT having one. I LOVEed mine in the Audi, and love it almost as much so in the bimmer. A corvette with a glass top might be ideal....too many good choices of used sports cars in the $20k-30k range....and still eying a pre 74 Triumph TR6. The damn things are as beautiful as the most pretty blondes IMO ;-)

Also..found out that Ferarri 308s/328s are also in the $30k range....and are "easy/cheap" to own and maintain by Ferarri standards.........fuuuudge......

19 more days till my next AutoX.........magnetic numbers ordered ;-) 88 since the car is a 1988... my usual numbering scheme.

I'm the opposite, and don't want a sun/moonroof. They add weight at high CG, they add cost, they are something else to break or start leaking out of warranty, and they take away cabin headroom. I've had two Bimmers with moonroofs and hardly ever opened them.

My previous M3 and my current MINI JCW do not have them, and I have never regretted going without. In fact, I love the extra headroom, especially when I have to don a helmet for the track.

The surface SUCKS! I'll be up in Little Rock this weekend for autocross, where I'm told is on a much, much smoother surface.
PLX Kiwi Wifi gives the live data output (rpm gauge, throttle percentage). It's $150, which IMO is too much for what it does. I borrowed a friend's for the cost of shipping.

Thanks for the info! I have an Android phone though  (though I do like it) I hate driving on bad surfaces. I don't mind the loss of traction, its the bumps and squeaks I hear in my older car that rather bother me  (time for some front and rear strut braces...) Wearing tires out abnormally so is also a bugger, especially if it chunks them, which my Audi did due to its concrete truck understeer ability....(and I think a loaded concrete truck has better weight balance!!)

Here is my old S14 and my soon to be ex-E46
09o1J.jpg

S14 was on Stance coilovers and 17x9.5 +15 / 235 Feddys all around. BMW is on H&R Coilovers that are as low as they go with 19x8.5/19x9.5 and 255 Falken Azenis RT615s all around. Snow tires / stock wheels on it for now :(

Current daily/track bike

Probably get race plastics this summer, as I am tired of street riding after 5 years of it. Too dangerous. BMW will probably go and be replaced with my second S2000 or an E46 M3... unless my mom decides to get rid of her 335D M-pack that's White/Saddle before then.

It's nice to see an other Volvo owner on the board.

BTW, I am not sure if your are LHD(left Hand Drive) or RHD(Right Hand Drive), what version of the C70 if you are RHD?

My current car is my 3rd car, 2nd Volvo S70 but my first S70 T5 SE(Automatic).

She is getting old, but I still love her, because I feel safe, it's luxurious and the police does not bother me.

Winter mode:(taken some weeks ago.. hard to believe)

My daily, a Renault Clio thanks to Renault... for not building my new Renault on time. It's already two months too late and I still have to wait one month:

My wifes '04 PT Cruiser... still going good enough (paid +/- 800 euro one month ago for having it serviced):

It is right-hand drive- I live in London.
Got the D5- do a lot of motorway miles (40k in 3 years) and it is just economical.
The Dynaudio stereo was an upgrade- sounds amazing and I use Dynaudio monitors in my recording studio.

I had the old shape soft-top C70 when I lived in the US as well.
Not as nice to drive on long trips.

Thinking about an Alfa for the next car.

40K in 3 years isn't THAT BAD! When working at Volvo, we had a few High rollers that would do from 20 000 KM-35 000KM per year! Granted, Quebec is a vaste land and there is a lot of distance between "big" cities: Gatineau/Hull (Ottawa if you want to)-Montreal-Quebec-Sherbrooke.

I can imagine the D5 having loads of torque! If only...

As for the Alfa, what model were you considering?

Finally got a new car, a 2011 335d...as in Diesel! 265hp @ 4200rpm and an amazing 425ft lbs of torque at 1,750rpm. I haven't been able to really get on it yet because of the break-in recommendations but its amazing. All while getting 36mpg on the highway. I'm in heaven!
