so a M3 hood (which is also aluminum) shouldn't fit without some work.

Which is why I said it was interesting.

And I believe there are two body panels they share: the trunk (minus the adhesive lip-spoiler), and I forget the other one.

At least Spencers has a valid reason to have it. (if it is a lighter hood) He AutoXs, so no points deducted from me ;-)

And its the last good looking generation of BMWs IMO.

But your right, too many toss on the ///M badge.

Personally, I think the M3 hood on a standard 3 looks strange. It needs the M3 flared fenders and front spoiler/splitter to balance the look. Without that, it looks out of propertion -- makes the car look tall and narrow.

No, it doesn't.

I've posted before, but I just completed my fall detail, which took about 18 hours to do in and out so I figured I'd post some up. I've gotten heavily into detailing in the last six months, and use a Porter Cable 7424XP with most of the Chemical Guys product line.

I was 16 or 17 when these cars were just a year or two old and used to go to the dealer after hours and drool over these after hours under the lights...I always drooled over the ones that were red with black leather, or black with black leather, and they had to have the 17" split spoke wheels. While I could've bought something newer, faster, fancier, or whatever, I knew I needed to scratch that itch so in February I bought one, exactly how I wanted it--black, black leather, 5-speed, Mach 460 Stereo, 17" wheels, and even lucked out with a 3.27 geared car...truly a loaded and well cared for GT. It's also a '98, which was the last year of the body style and my favorite since the wheels had the machined finish in that year which is the best looking by far.

Better yet the car was a two-owner car, and has been maintained at the dealer only since new (everything under the hood is Motorcraft, including the plug wires and even the battery) and it runs flawless, and it was cheap. I had it inspected at the dealer when I bought it, and even they could find only a serpentine belt and a broken lug stud (noticed that when they took the wheel off to check the brakes). Other than that and the set of new tires I put on last week, it's clean across the board mechanically and literally needs nothing. The car has original paint, and has all of its original VIN stickers on every panel. It's also cheap for me to insure. Only plans are to lower it, tint it, and put on an X-pipe/Flows and enjoy for the next few years.

It may not be as fancy or expensive as a lot of the cars in this thread, but I love it.

Nothing ruins/cheapens the look of a nice interior like shiny leather, IMO.

I have A 2010 BMW 330d Coupe

Very nice. I've been thinking about a diesel, maybe a X5 35d (we had an X5 4.4i previously). I see you're in the UK, so I understand diesel is very common (and well received), it just never took off very well here in the US.

Modern diesels are quiet, smell-free, cheaper to operate, makes a ton of sense. Plus the 400+ lb/ft of torque just cracks me up :D

Thanks. Yes the combined MPG is about 49 which is not bad. 0-60 is about 6 seconds which isn't bad for a nearly 2 ton car!! :)
